The former LSU athlete was kicked off an American Airlines flight following a verbal altercation with the crew. Richardson posted a video of the incident, accounting for all the details on her Instagram page.
Being one of the biggest track and field athletes in the United States, this incident is unfortunate for the athlete. The 23-year-old claims that the flight attendant in the plane had disrespected her for using her cell phone prior to takeoff. Following this, the athlete engaged in a heated war of words between the flight crew and fellow passengers.
The internet is divided about whether the incident had a racial undertone or was a genuine case of celebrity entitlement. Many users on Twitter and Instagram have started debating that the flight attendant’s response was to single out Richardson in this matter. However, some others have criticized Richardson for not following clear and specific rules for travelling on a flight.

In her video, she expresses resentment against the flight attendant, saying, “I stated to him I didn’t like the tone he used with me. Following that while standing in front of me doing the safety protocols he continued to lean over to look at my phone. He asked to see that my phones were in airplane more at this point. He demanded that me show him. Which I did in front of him.”
While it is unclear where Richardson travels, she mentions that she was out on vacation. She felt highly threatened by the male flight attendant with whom she was engaging in a verbal spat. When the crew protested against her making the video, she replied, I’m recording me, but you jumped in my video, so I caught you, because you jumped in my video. You’re harassing me at this point, so I think you should stop.”
