Ons Jabeur began poorly this season after registering just three wins from February to March. But, since the clay season began in April she has gained confidence on the court again. Nevertheless, she seems to have been left disheartened by the media after heavy criticism at the beginning of the year.

The Tunisian has now hit back at her critics for wanting her to be popular as the WTA Top stars, the likes of Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina. The humble 29-year-old explained that she has been trying to get back to form after beginning the year terribly, exiting the Australian Open in the second round.

However, she tried to regroup in February but couldn’t do much only reaching the quarterfinals in Abu Dhabi. At the Sunshine Doubles, she failed to win a match crashing out in the second round of the tournament. She then failed to defend her Charleston title losing to Danielle Collins in the second round.

But, she has been in good form since the clay season. She reached the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open before losing to American Madison Keys. Jabeur won her three opening matches at the Roland Garros earning a place in the fourth round of the major tournament. However, before her third-round match against Leylah Annie Fernandez, she revealed that she was not looking for fame but was only focused on her game.

I am what I am today. And if people don't talk about me the way they talk about Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka or Elena Rybakina, there's a reason. I just want to get what I deserve. I deserve to be in ninth place. It's tennis. I hold on. I'm trying to get back to my level, or at least to a level very close to the one I had. It's not easy, but nothing is fixed in tennis. You can play incredibly well and lose, and you can play badly and win.
Ons Jabeur told the reporters

Meanwhile, Jabeur has gone past the third round of the Roland Garros for the second successive time. She will be hoping to get past her 2023 quarterfinal exit at the French Open.

Ons Jabeur to remain in the WTA Top 10 after extending her stay at the Roland Garros

Ons Jabeur began the year as No.6 but has now slipped further to No.9 in the WTA rankings. She was at risk of leaving the Top 10 position after the French Open if Danielle Collins (No.10) and Jelena Ostapenko (No.11) reached further in the tournament and if she crashed out early.

But, that cannot materialize as both players have already exited the French Open. The Tunisian extended her stay at the clay major tournament beating Camila Osorio 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the second round.

Despite her poor record this year with only six wins and nine defeats, she has a win-loss record of 14-6 at the French Open. She defeated Leylah Fernandez in straight sets in the third round of the Roland Garros.
