It was a day to forget for the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. In the matchup against the Cincinnati Reds at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the American League side got crushed 24-2. The crushing defeat ignited some wild reactions from fans on social media.
Unlike the last two seasons, the Orioles have not made a good start and entered the game with a 9-11 record. They did win 9-5 against the Reds on Saturday and were looking to win the series with another positive result.
The game was anything but positive for them. The Orioles started the match with veteran pitcher Charlie Morton on the mound. The 41-year-old entered this game with a 0-4 record and was looking to earn his first win of the season.
However, he once again struggled on the mound. In the 2.1 innings he pitched in this game, Morton gave up 7 earned runs through 7 hits. He also had 4 walks and managed just 2 strikeouts which ended another disappointing appearance for him.
The Reds, on the other hand, kept on piling up runs and hits. Some poor defensive displays also cost the Orioles. By the end of the top of the 3rd inning, the Orioles were 8-1 down. The visitors scored twice in both the 4th and 5th innings and were out of sight by then.
With the team being 16-1 up, Noelvi Marte hammered a grand slam off position player Jorge Mateo in the 8th inning to take the score to 20-1. He finished the day with 7 RBI to his name. Meanwhile, catcher Austin Wynns went 6-for-7 against his former team and wrapped up the proceedings with a 3-run home run off another position player, Gary Sanchez.

This turned out to be the 4th time the Reds had scored 24 runs in a game. The last time they did so was against the Colorado Rockies on May 19, 1999. The most runs they have scored in a game is 26.

Cody Poteet sucks.
DFA'd Scott Blewett to keep the incredibly shitty Cionel Perez.
Ryan O'Hearn should never play the outfield.
Fortunately, it only counts as 1 loss.
Good things….
Adley and Westy 2 hits
The Orioles, with a 9-12 record now, are 4.5 games behind the New York Yankees in the race for the first position in the AL East Division. While it is still early in the season, the Orioles would be hoping to not fall way behind their rivals in the quest for postseason baseball.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde reacts to team’s ’embarrassing’ 24-2 loss against Reds
The Baltimore Orioles were handed one of their biggest defeats in the modern era on Sunday by the Cincinnati Reds. On the occasion of Easter Sunday, the 3-time World Series got thumped by their opponents. Following the loss, manager Brandon Hyde had some tough words.

While speaking to the reporters at the press conference, Hyde called the performance from his team has ’embarrassing’. The head coach expressed that he just wanted to get out of that as early as possible after watching the action of his team from the sidelines.
It’s embarrassing. It’s not what you want to do on Easter Sunday in front of your home crowd. You just want it to be over as fast as possible.
