Angel Reese has had a stellar year so far. On one hand, she became a star player in the WNBA after notching several records in her rookie season. On the other hand, she made herself a household name after building her brand in the offseason.

That makes her one of the most sought-after women’s basketball stars in the country. Angel Reese has managed to work on her game in the offseason and is poised to perform even better in year 2. At the same time, improvements to her team could help her reach the playoffs.

The combination of her game and her public image has had an impact on her personal life. She revealed that it was difficult to go out and do things she once did. At the same time, there is ever-increasing scrutiny on her dating life as well.

Last season, she was rumored to be dating Detroit Pistons star Jalen Duren. She even flaunted Pistons gear to one of her games, adding fuel to that rumor. Later, she seemingly clarified on her podcast that she was single.

But May 6th was on the horizon, and the Chicago Sky star was already in the mood to party ahead of her birthday. When clips of a party were shared on social media, it became apparent that Reese was in good spirits as she swayed to the music.

But in the background was Orlando Magic star Wendell Carter Jr. That instantly sparked off dating rumors as the center ticked many of the boxes the Sky star has when looking for a partner. Moreover, he was the lone basketball star there, which added to the belief that the two were probably in a relationship.

When Angel Reese openly revealed she was single, her podcast guests have asked her about her criteria. For starters, she made it clear that she will not date men shorter than her. Even if a person is good, she will avoid anyone who is even a tad bit shorter than her 6′ 3″ frame in heels.

Her rumored former boyfriends were all taller than her. Jalen Duren is 6′ 10″, which means he is taller than the Chicago Sky’s brother, Julian Reese. Secondly, she prefers athletes. Again, both her past dates were basketball players.

Wendell Carter Jr. is also 6′ 10″, and has been playing for the Orlando Magic for the past four and a half seasons. Moreover, he is older than Angel Reese, and is a teammate of Jalen Suggs, who happens to be the boyfriend of Reese’s former LSU and current Sky teammate Hailey Van Lith.

It is unknown if that connection helped them get together, or if he was just a random guest at that party. Either way, her podcast could be the only true source of her dating life, where she has openly talked about her relationship status.

Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith might be dating Orlando Magic players. But right now, their focus is on helping the Chicago Sky develop team chemistry that could help them in the regular season. That is where preseason games help, and their first game against the Brazilian National Team was a success.

The forward wound up as the game’s highest scorer after she notched 15 points and 10 rebounds. She will hope to do the same when she and her teammates head to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Lynx.

Last season’s WNBA Finalists are looking to build their own rapport. Battling against a team that was a few shots away from winning the 2025 title will give the rebuilding Sky an idea of what their team needs to improve on.

Reese’s game might have improved. But that improved game has to work along with that of her teammates as they look towards improving the performance of the team. Two preseason battles against the Lynx will go a long way toward helping Reese and the Sky achieve their goals.
