Luka Doncic
Just outside of the American Airlines Center on Saturday, hundreds of Dallas Mavericks supporters demonstrated against the team’s abrupt trade of Luka Doncic. Earlier this month, Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Several protesters covered the words “Dallas Mavericks” or the club’s logo with tape while wearing Doncic jerseys.
Tensions have been rising for Mavs GM Nico Harrison as each day passes by. The fans have been left utterly upset with how their 25-year-old star was traded to the Lakers. This was in return for a 31-year-old Anthony Davis. Despite Davis boasting a top-notch career in the NBA, the trade did not sit down well with the Mavs’ fans.
They even chanted slogans such as “Fire Nico” along with, “He’s (Luka Doncic) not Fat, bring him back!” towards the organization and Harrison. Not only that, the situation has gotten even worse, with some fans aiming ‘death threats’ towards their GM, showcasing the sensitivity of the situation. This is because Doncic has been a star in the Mavs fanbase’s eyes.

Some fans claim that the Slovenian should also have a statue beside their longtime legend, Dirk Nowitzki. In addition, former Mavs majority owner, Mark Cuban was also left stunned when the trade deal went down. Cuban also stated that he was ‘clueless’ regarding the trade. Also, he would not have allowed it, should he have had the power to do so.
NBA star Kawhi Leonard had a straight-forward reaction to the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade
The NBA world was left stunned a few days ago when the Los Angeles Lakers completed a trade move for Luka Doncic. In exchange, they sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. While everyone was left confused, and in shock, NBA star Kawhi Leonard was mostly unfazed by the move. Leonard opened up on this after his recent game with the Los Angeles Clippers.
I think it’s surprising, like everybody else said. But we have to see how they look. We haven’t been able to see them play with those teams yet, and so we’ll have to figure that out once we see Luka playing with the Lakers and AD playing with the Mavericks.
Kawhi Leonard said
The superstar guard has not yet made his Lakers debut. However, Monday night’s game against the Utah Jazz is anticipated to be his first game in a Lakers uniform. Luka Doncic had 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He averaged this in his 22 games with the Mavericks this season.
However, considering that the Lakers’ trade for a top center was thwarted on Saturday night, it will be intriguing to watch how Doncic truly looks.
