“Owned LeBron Harden and KD” – NBA fans draw parallels between Stephen Curry and Patrick Mahomes after Chiefs win over Bills
Fans are drawing parallels between Stephen Curry’s dominance in the Western Conference and Patrick Mahomes’ reign in the AFC.
Fans see similarities between Curry and Mahomes
The Kansas City Chiefs are on a historic march to etch their names as the only dynasty to three-peat in the Super Bowl era. Following the Chiefs’ victory over the Buffalo Bills, sports enthusiasts are drawing a peculiar parallel between the NBA’s Stephen Curry and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The rivalry between Mahomes and Josh Allen is the most exciting in modern NFL history since the days of Tom Brady–Peyton Manning. However, the Chiefs’ quarterback has consistently gotten the better of Allen, boasting a 4-0 record in their head-to-head playoff matchups. This development, however, has prompted fans to suggest that this may not be a real rivalry.
Comparing it to the Golden State Warriors’ run in the early 2010s, fans suggested that this is as much of a rivalry as Stephen Curry and James Harden‘s was when the Warriors had to regularly step on the Houston Rockets to advance to the Finals.

Not only that, but fans also pointed out that LeBron James and Kevin Durant were also victims of Curry’s unprecedented bulldozing over the league. So, it’s understandable why NBA fans would compare the quarterback to Stephen Curry and are sardonically laughing at the notion of it being a rivalry, saying that calling it a rivalry would be stretching the definition quite a bit.
Twitter reacts to Chiefs and Bills “rivalry”: They won the “beat the Chiefs in the regular season” championship
Fans made fun of the spot-on juxtaposition between Patrick Mahomes and Curry, and how their rivalries weren’t actually real due to their superior skill sets. Watching this integration of NFL and NBA has fans in hysteria, with one fan calling the comparison “dead on” and another reminding the NBA community how Curry in the 2010s “really owned LeBron, Harden, and KD.“
This is dead on.

Due to both teams eyeing the AFC title, the Bills-Chiefs rivalry has seen a resurgence since 2020. So far, Buffalo had the upper hand, beating Kansas City 4 out of 5 times in regular season matchups; however, they have struggled to secure a single victory in the playoffs match, when it mattered the most.
After defeating the Buffalo Bills by a field goal kick with a final score of 32-29, the City of Fountains secured their spot in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with Kendrick Lamar headlining the half-time show. This will be the rematch from Super Bowl LVII in 2022, with revenge on one side of the coin and history on the other.
