Jordan Love stepped into Pittsburgh and achieved two great quarterbacks had failed, secure a win. To make the moment sweeter, Love out-dueled his predecessor and mentor Aaron Rodgers.

The first half belonged to the Steelers. To be precise, the Steelers kicker Chris Boswell two 50+ and a 40+ field goals, giving his team the lead on the night. Rodgers scored the Steelers’ first TD, 30 seconds before the break, by connecting with wide receiver DK Metcalf for a 2-yard score.

Love kept the game competitive. A 16-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tucker Kraft ended the first half with a 16-7 scoreline.

The script flipped in the next two quarters. A cleverly put together jet sweep gave rookie Savion Williams his first touchdown in the NFL. Boswell scored from 56-yards again to keep the game balanced on a knives edge, but the onslaught was still yet to come.

Running back Josh Jacobs opened fourth quarter with a 3-yard rushing touchdown, and Love followed that by providing Kraft with his second score of the game. Kicker Brandon McManus, who missed the last couple of games, scored two back-to-back field goals from 28 and 25 yards to extend the Packers to 16 points.

Rodgers threw his second and the Steelers’ second TD of the tie, right before the two minute warning. Roman Wilson caught the pass inside the Packers endzone, which barely made an impact on the outcome. The game ended in a 35-25 win for the Packers, who improved to a 5-1-1 record, while the Steelers are 4-3.

Jordan Love completed 29 passes for 360 yards (78.3%) and threw 3 passing touchdowns.

Packers beat writer for PFSN, Zach Jacobson, tweeted a unique stat which even Rodgers had never managed for the Packers.

From the 4:17 mark in the second quarter to the 5:39 mark in the fourth quarter tonight, Jordan Love was 20-of-20 for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Those are numbers you put up against your little brother in Madden.

Jordan Love didn’t swap jerseys with Aaron Rodgers

Love spent three seasons as backup to Rodgers in Green Bay. His chance finally arrived after Rodgers left to play for the New York Jets.

The 41-year-old was on the move again two years later. He signed a one-year contract with the Steelers. Fans became excited when the Packers drew the Steelers on their schedule.

The Steelers made the occasion even more special by announcing to wear throwback uniforms in remembrance of their team from 1933.

During the buildup to the game, Rodgers revealed that he would love to swap jerseys with Love at full time. However, at the post-match presser, he promised to exchange jerseys at a later date.

Love wasn’t too keen on swapping jerseys from the start as he wasn’t a big fan of the Steelers throwbacks.

Nevertheless, Love played a brilliant game to extend the Packers’ dominance in the NFC North. After seven games, Love has completed 151 passes from 213 attempts (70.9%) for 1798 yards, 13 touchdowns and 2 picks.
