The Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love injured himself in the final moments of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The first-ever NFL game in South America was proving to be a banger until Love went down, holding his knee.

With under 40 seconds left on the clock at the Corinthians Arena, the Packers trailed by just 5 points as Eagles kicker Jake Elliott scored a 21-yard field goal moments before. A touchdown would have settled the tie for Green Bay.

After taking the snap, Love tried to scramble as he tried to avoid the sack. The pocket eventually collapsed with Eagles pass rushers Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat pounced on the 25-year-old quarterback. After the dust settled, Love couldn’t move from the ground and lay still until the medical team tended to him.

In the meantime, NBC’s cameras showed the entire motion, and it looked ugly. Love was nearly free, but Carter grabbed hold of his left calf, which twisted his knee as Sweat fell over him. The duo then took Love down to the ground before he released the ball for an incompletion.

After the primary checkup, the medics decided Jordan Love had to come off. Head coach Matt LaFleur had no other option but to listen to the experts.

The NBC cameras also picked up footage from the Packers’ dugout where Malik Willis was practicing some throws before taking the field for a short time. Willis only threw one pass before the referee blew the final whistle, and the game ended 34-29; the Eagles won.

After the conclusion of the game, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts went to check on the gloomy Jordan Love sitting with his head down on the Packers bench. Hurts leaned in and shook Love’s hands before returning to his part of the stadium.

Love ended the day with 17/34, 260 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception, while Hurts lodged 20/34 for 278 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. When the media surrounded LaFleur, the first thing they wanted to know was Jordan Love’s condition and how long he would be out.

I don’t know, I don’t know.
Matt LaFleur said according to the Packers reporter for ESPN Rob Domovsky

Packers’ debutant running back Josh Jacobs, who added 16 carries for 84 yards, said as per Packers Wire writer Zach Kruse, “We don’t know the severity of his injury, but hopefully he’s ok.”

Jesse Morse, a renowned sports medicine specialist, believes Jordan Love could have torn his ACL.

Left leg injury I’ve reviewed the video multiple times, and there are a couple different possible injuries; it’s not super clear at the moment. Most concerning: ACL tear This is supported by a ‘pivot shift’ where the knee appears to shift/slightly buckle; usually this happens when the ACL is torn. The MCL is also at risk here. Finally, his left ankle is vulnerable to a high-ankle sprain.
Jesse Morse posted on X with details

If Morse’s hypothesis is correct, then Love could be sidelined for a while. Only a detailed report from the hospital can deduce the severity of his injury.

Up next, the Packers will face the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field on week 2. As for who will be their quarterback, Willis appears to be the preferred choice because LaFleur sent him against the Eagles instead of the experienced Clifford. Nonetheless, it’s a massive blow for both the Packers and Love because he recently signed a $220 million contract, making him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.
