When the Dallas Cowboys moved on from Trevon Diggs, many knew that his next potential landing spot was going to be with the Green Bay Packers.
Sharing an agent in David Mulugheta with his former Cowboys teammate, Micah Parsons, led to him signing with the Wisconsin-based franchise off waivers.
Even though the pass rusher was not available to play due to his ACL tear, the cornerback tagged along with his new teammates to the playoffs. There, they were embarrassed by the Chicago Bears, bringing an end to their season.
Trevon Diggs did not have the best of outings in the one regular-season game, as well as the Wild Card round, totaling just three combined tackles.
The Packers have released CB Trevon Diggs, who now will become a free agent.

This was one of the first roster moves the Green Bay Packers made as they look towards next season. Whether it was his performances or the nearly $57 million the organization will owe him for the next three years, this move leaves Trevon Diggs without a contract.
Fans react to Packers’ release of Trevon Diggs
Usually, organizations try their best to keep top players with them for as long as possible. For someone who picked up Trevon Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler without giving up anything in return, it was unfathomable for football fans when they released him two games later.
Fans believe this release is the culmination of his poor run of form and his massive contract. Check out examples of those reactions below:

This release ends a troublesome season for Trevon Diggs. For someone who was supposed to be the cornerstone of the Dallas Cowboys’ defense, his attitude, poor performance, and his contract became too much of a burden that the team did not want to handle.
Trevon Diggs is likely to return to Packers
As a free agent, one might believe that Trevon Diggs will now have a plethora of options at his disposal. Teams freeing up salary cap space can give his agent a call, especially those in need of a lockdown corner.

However, there is something known as comfort, and the Alabama alum knows that with Micah Parsons on the Green Bay Packers, he can comfortably get on with the rest of the team.
It seems the franchise released Diggs with the interest of bringing him back on a friendlier deal. Per Spotrac, they will save $15.5 million from their 2026 cap.
The #Packers have released CB Trevon Diggs out of the 3 years, $57M remaining on his contract.

With no dead cap to take on, Green Bay frees up $15.5M of 2026 space.
If they bring him back on a smaller cap hit, it would be a win-win for both sides. The Packers’ defense had improved last season, and the hope is that the 27-year-old would continue that trend.
