Pacman Jones is back and this time he parted ways with inside knowledge of Deion Sanders potentially becoming the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Jones grew close to the Sanders family during their rise to prominence in Colorado in 2023.

Coach Prime is constantly linked with the Cowboys’ job. Owner Jerry Jones contacted him on the phone, hoping to persuade the 2x Super Bowl winner to return to Dallas as head coach.

Sanders was thrilled and honored by his former boss’s gesture, but, in a public message, hinted that he might stay in Colorado.

I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team.

In the meantime, baffling news leaked out of the Colorado camp, revealing that the brass and Sanders are not on good terms regarding NIL. This latest development may push him to leave Boulder and take the Cowboys head coaching job.

However, Pacman Jones, who played for the Cowboys in 2008, brushed aside any authenticity of Deion Sanders joining the Cowboys in 2025.

Deion is not leaving Colorado by no means necessary unless he was able to coach both his sons, which I don’t think that’s possible. I don’t think Deion is going nowhere. I think it was good entertainment, but I don’t think Deion is going to Jerry world.

Pacman Jones said while appearing on Friday’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show

Sanders recently said in an episode of Good Morning America that he will take an NFL job if he gets to coach his two sons. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and cornerback Shilo Sanders are part of the 2025 NFL draft.

Jerry Jones may find it hard to attract talent other than Deion Sanders for Cowboys job

3x Super Bowl-winning Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman stirred up a debate regarding the head coaching job at Arlington. From his point of view, Jones is facing trouble in attracting top coaches because it is no longer a lucrative job, as it used to be back in his day when the Cowboys won trophies.

I love the Dallas Cowboys. I played there for 12 years. I wish them well, but to say that it’s a coveted job, I’m not sure I would necessarily agree with that.

Troy Aikman said

Jones can capitalize on Sanders’ popularity and the wealth of experience he brings to the table. However, that plan may take time to materialize, and for the time being, the Cowboys are looking for different options, and one name that constantly pops up in the headlines is the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. However, Johnson isn’t keen on the job.

I don’t expect Ben Johnson to be in play in Dallas. I think… Jerry has other ideas. I think Ben Johnson has other ideas. And don’t think that he’s a logical leading candidate there right now… He is getting a head coaching job. He is getting one. It’s just not going to be in Dallas.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show

Johnson is heavily linked with the vacant post at the Las Vegas Raiders. According to reports, owner Tom Brady is ready to make him the highest-paid head coach in the NFL. Currently, the Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid earns the most with a $20 million-per-year deal, followed by the Denver Broncos Sean Payton with $15 million.

The strong favorite to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore spent four years as the Cowboys OC before moving to Philly and reportedly wants the Cowboys job.

The Eagles have the eighth-best offense in the league, averaging 367.2 yards per game, and are the second-best rushing offense, averaging 179.3 yards. On the flip side, they are fourth from the bottom as a passing team averaging 187.9 yards per game. That’s partly down to running back Saquon Barkley being the main man in the attack who ended the season with 2005 yards.
