Paddy Pimblett has just revealed how much he weighs before stepping into the octagon before a fight. His weight has remained a huge talking point throughout his career. Moreover, instances of him ballooning up between training camps have gone viral within the MMA community. Now, as he prepares to fight for the second time this year, the Scouser has spilled the beans about his weight cut.

In an interview with Demetrious Johnson, Pimblett admitted that he usually walks around at 190-195lbs. He even confessed to getting as heavy as 210lbs once when he was on vacation. But then he told the shocked flyweight that this number isn’t too far removed from the weight at which he steps into the octagon.

Pimblett revealed that he weighs around 185lbs on fight night. This makes the Liverpool-born lightweight an actual middleweight in the octagon. Weigh-ins usually weigh-ins happen on the Friday morning before the fight, with the event itself typically taking place the next day in the evening. The Englishman gaining 30lbs in a day and a half is an astonishing feat especially considering it’s 20% of his body mass.

After weighing in, just from rehydrating, I’m already back down to 170lbs. And by the time I head to the venue the next day for the fight, I’ll be back up to 185lbs.

Many fighters who cut such large amounts of weight have been accused of being “weight bullies”. UFC commentator Joe Rogan has even called weight cutting “sanctioned cheating.” The debate around fighters cutting massive amounts of weight, and putting their health at risk has only gained steam after harrowing details of Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 328 weight cut started to surface.

Many close to the Chechen have alleged that his weight cut was directly tied to his lackluster showing against Sean Strickland in Newark. Nonetheless, Paddy Pimblett does not seem to be complaining even now as he revealed his current weight in a vlog on his YouTube channel.

This recent revelation from Paddy Pimblett that he weighs around 185lbs while impressive, is not shocking. ‘The Baddy’ has been known for years to cut extreme amounts of weight for his fights. Not long ago, the Scouser revealed that he nearly lost a kidney during a particularly extreme weight cut. Nonetheless, he has continued his practice of ballooning up between fights.

Now, heading into the first fight since his maiden UFC loss, the 31-year-old has kept up this practice as he revealed how much he weighed in late May when his fight against Benoit Saint-Denis was confirmed. The lightweight contender posted a vlog on his channel that showed that he weighed around 191lbs. In the video, he then expressed his relief at knowing the opponent and date so he could start his 36lbs cut.

It’s nice obviously having an opponent, date set, everything’s ready to go when we’re fighting, know how long I’ve got. It’s all about making weight and being ready for the fight.

Despite all this extreme weight cutting, the Scouser has never missed weight in any of his UFC fights. Even when he wasn’t afforded the luxury of an extra pound at UFC 324, he made weight without a hiccup before his interim title fight against Justin Gaethje.

However, as mentioned earlier, Paddy Pimblett ended up losing that fight to the now-champion, Gaethje marking his first loss as a UFC fighter.

So, this upcoming fight against BSD is also the first time Pimblett will be looking to rebound in the promotion.

Even so, he has looked elsewhere as well, recently declaring himself as a potential opponent for Ilia Topuria‘s return fight.
