Paddy Pimblett is one of the biggest UFC prospects and has gained massive attention ahead of his fight at UFC 314. The scouser will take on top lightweight Michael Chandler, and the hype around the fight is massive due to Pimblett’s charisma. The clash with Chandler will be Pimblett’s toughest test yet, possibly defining his future as a true contender in the division.

Pimblett has had an undefeated streak by defeating tough opponents such as Tony Ferguson, Bobby Green etc. The UK fighter has shown an incredible skill set, especially on the ground with his submission abilities. Ahead of the fight, fellow countryman and UFC legend Michael Bisping mentioned that Pimblett might make a huge jump.

If he gets the job done against Michael Chandler and he just might do that  I’m telling you, Paddy Pimblett is probably one fight away from fighting for the belt. Whether you like it a lot.

Chandler is currently ranked #7 in the lightweight division and has four losses in his last five outings. However, the lightweight division has always been the most competitive as well as volatile one. With the ongoing drama around the top five fighters, Pimblett could definitely see himself as a contender with two consecutive wins.

On top of that, fans are well aware of the push that Pimblett gets from the UFC. Due to his marketability, charisma, and strong fan following, the UK fighter has been a staple in the events in England. He brings excitement inside the octagon and draws major attention outside it with his personality.

His ability to generate buzz, sell tickets, and go viral makes him a promotional asset. The UFC sees star potential in him, similar to Conor McGregor’s early rise. With fight fans complaining more and more about boring champions, having someone like Pimblett will result in excitement. However, with all that fan-following also comes the negativity, which he experiences every time.

Paddy Pimblett addresses his doubters

Some fans dislike Paddy Pimblett due to perceived arrogance and controversial moments. For example, after his win over Jared Gordon, many felt he was gifted a decision, which sparked accusations of favoritism. He also mocked Ilia Topuria‘s heritage during a press conference, leading to a backlash. Additionally, his feud with journalist Ariel Helwani, where Pimblett demanded payment for interviews, painted him as entitled.

These incidents, combined with his brash persona, have led some fans to view him as overrated and annoying. While he has a loyal fan base, there are many who just want Pimblett to lose, which ultimately benefits his influence. In a recent interview, the UK fighter shared his opinion on getting hate and criticism.

I don’t know. I think it’s because I still look like a 16-year-old boy. People look at me, look at the hair, and think that I’m not a fully grown man, what I am now. People think if people were to get in the cage with them and when I get in the cage with them and they feel my strength and they feel my technique, they get a sudden realisation.

All these criticisms don’t necessarily affect ‘The Baddy’, who thrives in it and is confident about winning the belt. Going forward, all his focus is directed towards the upcoming fight against Michael Chandler. A win can get him close to the title and a loss could drastically affect his momentum.

Can Paddy Pimblett beat Michael Chandler?

As the representative of the new young generation, Paddy Pimblett brings momentum, and a growing skill set, but questions remain about his ability against elite competition. Michael Chandler is a seasoned veteran with knockout power and elite wrestling skills. He also poses a significant threat to Pimblett’s current UFC run.

If Chandler imposes his pressure early, Pimblett may struggle, especially if the fight goes into deep waters or becomes a brawl. However, Pimblett’s unpredictability and submission skills could surprise Chandler if the fight hits the ground or becomes wild in exchanges.

Overall, Chandler’s experience and power give him the edge, but Pimblett’s youth and confidence make this an intriguing and an unpredictable matchup. However, when it comes to form, Pimblett has a massive advantage over the American lightweight fighter.
