Paige Spiranac slams former PGA Tour professional for his response on U.S. Players getting paid for Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup has once again become the buzz of the golfing world. According to a report from The Telegraph, U.S. players may finally get paid next year in this event. This led to former PGA Tour professional Hunter Mahan giving his approval regarding this. However, his response did not sit down well with many including Paige Spiranac, who later slammed him.

As per the report, Team USA players could get paid $400,000 if the board approves it. Reacting to this, Mahan, gave his stamp of approval while saying, “It doesn’t need to be lot, I mean, it’s not millions of dollars or anything.”

Spiranac would label the comments of Mahan as “out of touch“. On her X account, she expressed that Mahan saying that it does not need to be a lot when $400k is a lot was not a “good look” for golf.
This is out of touch. It is reported that each US player will receive 400k for participating. That’s life changing money for so many people. For Hunter to say it doesn’t have to be a lot when 400k is a lot just isn’t a good look for golf in my opinion.

If the board does approve this proposal, it would mark the first time in the competition’s long history that a player will get paid directly. On the other hand, European golfers will continue to not receive any money for their participation.
The European golfers though do not seem bothered by this. Recently, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry both reacted to this and claimed it was a “privilege” to play in this tournament and did not care whether they got compensated or not.
