Carlos Alcaraz completed the Career Grand Slam on Sunday (February 1), becoming the youngest man in the Open Era to reach the milestone, surpassing Rafael Nadal, who did this at the age of 24. In the Australian Open final, the 22-year-old came from a set down to defeat the tournament’s most successful player, Novak Djokovic.
The win helped Alcaraz improve his head-to-head record to 5-5 over the 38-year-old. It was the first time the Spaniard reached the final at Melbourne Park, as prior to this year, he made just two quarterfinals, in 2024 and 2025.
Alcaraz also reached his fourth consecutive Grand Slam final. Last year, he defeated Jannik Sinner in the title clash of the French Open and the US Open, but the Italian denied him the win in the final of Wimbledon.
Before downing the Serbian great, Alcaraz knocked out last year’s Australian Open runner-up Alexander Zverev in five hours and 27 minutes, which has now become the longest semifinal in the history of the tournament. Following his win, an exhausted Alcaraz, after completing his media duties, headed for home in Mucia.
I wish I had the strength to go party. After the final, I got to my room at two in the morning and couldn’t do anything. I was dead tired. I played some games with my brother, and that was my whole celebration. It was all I could manage. I can’t wait to get to Murcia to rest.
Carlos Alcaraz said during his interview with El Mundo
Alcaraz has reached his home. On social media, La 7 Deportes shared a video of Alcaraz emerging from his car and going straight inside his home. He also looked toward the paparazzi capturing the video, but neither he nor any member of his family said anything to them.

Fans slam the paparazzi for breaching Carlos Alcaraz’s privacy
Fans on social media are very upset with the paparazzi for following Carlos Alcaraz even at his residence. They asked them to leave him alone and let him enjoy the time with his family now that the Australian Open is done and dusted.

Qué aporta grabar el portal de su casa o de sus padres?

Con el dinero que tiene no sabe que se tiene que ir a vivir a una casa cómoda donde no lo persigan las cámaras y la privacidad y donde pueda descansar que no es lujo es necesidad

Honestly I feel bad for Carlos and his family. Their privacy is being invaded non-stop for the sake of content.

But please no one likes to live like that!
If we want to enjoy his tennis a little longer, let’s not make his life unbearable!

Alcaraz is now a seven-time Grand Slam champion. Next Major is the French Open, where the Murcia native will be bidding to complete the three-peat. Last year, he came from two sets down and saved three championship points to defeat Jannik Sinner in five hours and 29 minutes, also the longest final in the history of Roland Garros.
Jimmy Connors said Alexander Zverev might have more belief after defeat to Carlos Alcaraz
Zverev is a three-time Grand Slam finalist. Although he missed another chance to add a Major title to his name, he might now have more belief about tasting Grand Slam glory, after playing the thrilling semifinal against Alcaraz at Melbourne Park, believes Jimmy Connors.

To be put in that situation to play Djoker, who had a long match too – the stars might’ve just aligned for him. But to win the tournament, you got to beat them all, and he had an opportunity to beat the best in the world at the time, playing Alcaraz. Didn’t come through, and Alcaraz goes on to win the tournament.
Jimmy Connors said on his Advantage Connors podcast
Alcaraz broke the head-to-head tie with Zverev to take a 7-6 lead. Last year in the Australian Open final, the German went past Sinner in the title clash. Zverev reached his career’s first Major final at the 2020 US Open, losing the match to Dominic Thiem. In 2024, he lost to Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final.
