Paris 2024: WATCH – Paris sky painted in colors of French flag as Tokyo handover the Olympic flag

The Tokyo Olympics have officially come to an end. Following a stunning show in the Japanese capital, the world now gears up for the next mega-event, Paris 2024. Tokyo signed off with one final flourish of rainbow fireworks which marked the end of the closing ceremony. It was a scintillating show of grit and passion as athletes from more than 200 countries gave it their best to get their hand on the 1080 medals that were on offer.

As Tokyo 2020 came to an end, the governor of Tokyo Governor to the IOC president, Thomas Bach. Bach then hands it over to a representative from Paris, the city which will be hosting the next Games in 2024. As the handover took place, millions of kilometers away in the next host city, Paris, the sky was painted in the colors of the French national flag to mark the occasion.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are only three years away. The countdown to the next edition of the quadrennial event has begun which is only 1082 days. Having put their prowess to the test at the Tokyo Olympics, athletes will now be gearing up to try their luck again at the 33rd Olympic Games.

Towards the end of the Tokyo 2020 closing ceremony, the hosts of the 2024 Games took the audience through their country and offer a glimpse of what’s on offer in the next Olympics. In a video, French President Emmanuel Macron can be seen welcoming all to the 2024 Paris Olympics as the Paris Games flag flew high at the iconic Eiffel Tower.
