Novak Djokovic did not start the season well as he was not allowed to participate in the Australian Open and was deported in January from Down Under just a day before the start of the tournament due to his unvaccinated status against COVID-19. After a few dismal performances in the following ATP tournaments, he came back to form in the French Open but lost to ‘King of Clay’ in the quarter-final round match.

The nine-time Australian Open champion played the Serbian Open final in front of his home crowd but lost to the Russian Andrey Rublev in the final. He then, went on to win the Wimbledon defeating Nick Kyrgios in four sets. He again was not allowed to participate in the US Open because he is not protected against COVID-19. But since then, he is on an upswing winning the Tel Aviv Open and the Astana Open.

Maxime Cressy started the season well by reaching the final of the Melbourne Summer Set tournament but was defeated by Rafael Nadal in an exciting match. He was particularly good at the Australian Open and reached the fourth round of the Australian Open where he was defeated by eventual finalist Daniil Medvedev.

His form dipped henceforth and he was knocked out in the first round of many tournaments which includes the French Open. He then came back strongly to reach the final of the Eastbourne Open defeating Reilly Opelka, Daniel Evans, Cameron Norrie, and Jack Draper but could not win against Taylor Fritz.

He then won the Infosys Hall of Fame Open but could not do much since. He defeated the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 6-3 in the ongoing Paris Masters 2022 tournament.
