Carlos Alcaraz will be locking horns with Nicolas Jarry to start his Paris Masters campaign. This is Alcaraz’s first ATP tournament since his quarterfinal exit from the Shanghai Masters.
Alcaraz will be bidding to win his first Paris Masters, as he has never made it to the semifinals. Jarry on the other hand, arrived in Paris following his first-round exit from the Swiss Indoors, where Holger Rune defeated him in straight sets.

The last time Carlos Alcaraz won an ATP title was at the China Open where he defeated Jannik Sinner in three sets and won his first title in Beijing. Last year in Bercy, the Murcia native got knocked out in the first round after Roman Safiullin defeated him in straight sets.
Alcaraz is 51-10 this season and has won four titles, including the French Open and the Wimbledon. The 21-year-old also took home the silver medal after his defeat to Novak Djokovic in the final of the Paris Olympics.
On the other hand, Nicolas Jarry faced Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the Paris Masters and defeated him 7-6(4), 6-3 to set up the clash with Alcaraz. Last year at the tournament, Jarry advanced to the second round, where Alexander Bublik beat him in straight sets.
The Chilean is yet to win a trophy this season and has a win-loss record of 18-23. He came close to winning the title when he progressed to the finals of the Argentina Open and the Italian Open but lost to Facundo Diaz Acosta and Alexander Zverev in straight sets respectively.

Carlos Alcaraz, even though he has never won the title in Bercy, is the heavy favorite as he is the second most successful player this season after Jannik Sinner. The Italian and seven-time Paris Masters champion Novak Djokovic have withdrawn from the tournament this year.
Alcaraz met Jarry three times so far, twice in 2023 and once this year. Last year, Alcaraz won both the matches against the Chilean, at the Rio Open and at Wimbledon. However, the Spaniard lost in the semifinals in Buenos Aires this year.
That said, Alcaraz will be keen to put that defeat behind him and begin his campaign in Bercy on a strong note. While Jarry could give him a run for his money, expected Alcaraz to come through this contest with ease.
