Carlos Alcaraz will face Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the third round, Paul downed home favorite Corentin Moutet 7-6(5), 6-3 despite the one-sided support for the latter from the French crowd. This is the 27-year-old’s second appearance at the Olympics and his best result yet.

Alcaraz knocked out Roman Safiullin, who is competing under a neutral flag after the ban on Russian and Belarusian representation at the Summer Games. The World No. 3 triumphed 6-4, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals in his Games debut.

Paul’s unorthodox way of playing may help him put up a fight against the World No. 3 but might not be enough to cause an upset.
