Paris Olympics 2024 is finally around the corner. Last time, COVID-19 caused the games to be held under a lot of precautions and restrictions, effectively denying participants and fans any chance to experience the games. However, this time, it is scheduled and anticipated to be the most exciting game ever. For fans watching around the globe, here is when and where to watch the most anticipated sporting event of this year.
To start with, the opening ceremony is scheduled for the 26th of July and is set to be hosted in the heart of Paris, alongside the river Seine. The grand ceremony is expected to attract over 500,000 fans. However, fans sitting at home can watch the ceremony unfold at 7.30 p.m. CET, which translates to 1:30 p.m. for those on the East Coast of the United States of America.
However, football, rugby sevens, handball and archery will have a few of their preliminary rounds taking place on the 24th and 25th. The games on the 24th will start at 3 p.m. CET, or 9 a.m. ET for those in America. The following day, games will start at 9 a.m. CET and those in the UK can tune in at 7 a.m. on the same day.
With over 10,500 athletes scheduled to participate, this edition of the Olympics should garner record viewership and attendance. After all, it is the greatest sporting event in the world. But for fans at home, here are the ways one can watch the games as well as the schedule.
When, where and how to watch the Paris Olympics 2024
The games will be in full swing from 27th July onwards. A multitude of arenas in and around Paris will host several disciplines. Most of them are within a few minutes from the Olympics Village. The only exceptions are soccer, golf, surfing, sailing and a few other disciplines. They need larger arenas or locations. Therefore, participants will have to travel for some time to reach those venues.
However, the broadcasting times do not change for any particular sport. Media rights holder Warner Bros Discovery will telecast the games from 8 a.m. CET to 11:30 p.m, every day until the games close on the 11th of August. The only exception is surfing. Teahupo’o, Tahiti is the chosen venue for the discipline. Therefore, it will be telecast well after the games are over for the day in Paris.
