With Paris Saint-Germain topping the Ligue 1 points tally, their president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi said to French broadcaster that the club will be moving away from their long-standing venue, Parc des Princes. He has also clarified that this move is to stay alive amongst the ever-growing European rivals. Parc des Princes is currently owned by city authorities and hence as per the PSG president has its own inhibitions in terms of expanding.

PSG’s owners have made several attempts in order to buy the stadium. Standing at 48000-seating capacity at the moment, the venue has missed out on bigger crowd gatherings. The stadium was originally built in 1897 and has been developed into the current structure in 1972.

I really like the Parc des Princes, everyone loves it. If I decide with my heart, I say: we don’t leave. But when I think with my head, we are dead. In Europe, all major clubs have 80,000 seats. If we want to be at this level for our supporters, we must expand the stadium. We have no other solution… we are going to leave. We have no choice. The city leaves us no choice. It’s a decision of the city because we can’t do what we want in the stadium.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi told French broadcaster RMC

Talking at the opening of the club’s new training center in Poissy, Nasser Al-Khelaifi also said that the team is fairly young and PSG has taken the yard with the objective to win. However, being realistic is what he expects from the fans while also underlining the fact that the Parisians would want to maintain their style.

Here is what Luis Enrique had to say after PSG’s win against Toulouse

Despite being in fine touch in the ongoing edition of Ligue 1, PSG has struggled to find their rhythm in the new edition of the UEFA Champions League. Slotted at the 25th position with just one win and one draw from the four games that they have played, Luis Enrique, their coach has clarified the fact that the club needs to level up their game in the UCL.

I think that we have numbers in Ligue 1 that are in line with our quality and in the Champions League we are far from our level. It’s not logical. It is clear that we have to improve our effectiveness, there is no doubt about it. A competition like the Champions League is different, is short, fewer games, it does not reward regularity, it rewards being good at the right moments.

Luis Enrique has told the media after PSG’s win against Toulouse

It was a clinical display from the Parisians against Toulouse as their attacking unit came all guns blazing. Joao Neves opened the scoring for PSG while Lucas Beraldo doubled the lead in the 84th minute. Vitinha drew curtains on the fixture with a 91st minute strike that sealed the bragging rights of the game for PSG.
