Former tennis player from Australia, Pat Cash, lauded Carlos Alcaraz and compared him to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Cash said he has never seen a player like Alcaraz who has taken the best from Federer and Nadal and combined them in his game.

Federer retired in 2022 after clinching 20 Grand Slam trophies, while Nadal, with 22 Grand Slam titles, will hang up his racket after the Davis Cup, scheduled in November. Alcaraz, at 21, has already bagged four Grand Slam trophies and the only major title he is yet to win is the Australian Open. His records on grass are also impressive, as he has a 24-3 record on the surface.

Novak Djokovic was the player who was defeated in the Wimbledon final by Alcaraz this season. Although the Spaniard faced a tough challenge from the Serb in last year’s Wimbledon final, it wasn’t the case this year.

In straight sets, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic to lift his third Grand Slam trophy. Cash, who lifted the Wimbledon in 1987 and was a two-time finalist at the Australian Open, has called Alcaraz the best player on grass.

He hasn’t got a weakness. I almost think he is one of the best, in fact, the best player I have ever seen on grass. Ever seen, and I am really talking about ever seen. Because he is a young guy, he has taken the best of Rafa, the best of Federer, and he has been able to adapt to that. Without these great players, he wouldn’t have had that, and he admits that.

He is the best player in the world right now, at least for me. Playing Jannik is a huge challenge. Seeing the year he is having and doing is amazing. It is going to be a really tough challenge for me.

Carlos Alcaraz told Sky Sports Tennis

If Alcaraz wins the exhibition event, it will be his fifth title of the season after the Indian Wells, French Open, Wimbledon, and China Open. He also has a silver medal he won at the Paris Olympics after defeat to Novak Djokovic.
