Bumrah led the side in Rohit Sharma‘s absence in this Test and was sensational with the ball in hand. He registered figures of 8/72 in this Test match and helped his side beat the Aussies by 295 runs.

Cummins praised Bumrah’s performance in the Test match and stated that it was always going to be a challenge while trying to face him. The Aussie captain lauded Bumrah for his ability to exert constant pressure throughout the Test match.

He’s one of the best in the world. He’s always going to be a challenge, so we got to come up with ways to combat that. I thought particularly that Day 1, his spell, the spell from the Indian guys, made it tricky for our team to navigate through. He bowled well through the game, like he does most games.

Pat Cummins said at the post-match press conference.

India were bowled out for 150 runs in the first innings after Bumrah won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the captain put forward an inspiring performance with the ball in hand by picking up five wickets in the first innings and then dismissing the Aussies for 104 runs.

India batted really well in the second innings and set a target of 504 runs for the Australians to chase. In reply, they were bowled out for 238 runs as Bumrah went on to scalp three wickets in the second innings.

Pat Cummins backs Marnus Labuschagne to bounce back in the second Test in Adelaide

The second Test starts on December 6 in the Adelaide Oval, which will be a Day/Night Test match with the Pink Ball. Australia’s number three, Marnus Labuschagne, has struggled with the bat in the last few innings and has been bitterly out for form. He scored two and three runs in both innings of this Test match. The pressure is onhim,m but Cummins has backed him to deliver in the next Test match.

Cummins feels that Marnus, along with a few other batters, did not have the Test match that they wanted. However, he called Labuschagne a ‘class player’ and feels that he, in form, is one of the scariest batters to bowl to.

We know he’s a class player, him at his best is one of the scariest propositions for opposition bowlers to bowl at. We’ll get to Adelaide a little bit earlier and maybe do an extra day or two prep leading into that second Test.

Pat Cummins said at the post-match press conference.

Labuschagne averages just 31.75 in 19 matches since 2023, a major slump from his overall average of 48.45. The pressure is on him to deliver in Adelaide or his place in the side could be in danger. It all boils down to the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide.
