Out of all the starry guests who have already frequented the ongoing edition of Wimbledon, the latest addition to this prized list was Australian Test and One Day captain, Pat Cummins. Papped in the audience for the ongoing prestigious event in London, Cummins was seen enjoying a sweet summer afternoon in the gallery.
Fresh from the T20 World Cup where Pat Cummins was a part of the Australian squad that was shown the exit in Super Eights after a shock defeat against Afghanistan and another defeat against India.
After a phenomenal show in the IPL, spearheading the charge for the Sunrisers Hyderabad who finished as the runners-up in the tournament, Cummins did an incredible job of playing the perfect pace ace for the Aussies in the recently-concluded biennial extravaganza.
He started with figures of 2/23 against England while following up with another neat display against Namibia. He also scripted history by claiming two back to back hattricks in the tournament where he chronicled figures of 3/29 against Bangladesh before penning another scintillating display which had numbers of 3/28.
Against India, however, he found himself at the receiving end of some serious heat as Rohit Sharma took him for a ride. At the end of his allotment of four overs, he conceded 48 runs and didn’t claim a single wicket. Even though he stayed unbeaten with the bat, that wasn’t enough for Australia to make a mark.
Novak Djokovic clinched a thrilling win to set the latest day at Wimbledon on fire
This has already been a Wimbledon to remember with a handful of sturdy battles. Even though no upsets have been penned yet, the biggest of shots have had to squeeze their hearts out to win their respective contests.
Similarly, one of the prized contenders to win the Men’s singles competition, Novak Djokovic had to grind hard to eventually edge past his counterpart, Jacob Fearnley in the second round contest, earlier today.
Despite Joker bagging the first couple of sets comprehensively by 6-4 and 6-3, Fearnley retaliated strongly by winning the third set 7-5. Eventually after some oscillating battle in the fourth set, Joker had the last laugh, clinching the set by 7-5 and booking his ticket for the third round in the contest.
