Pat McAfee apologizes to Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is the hottest topic in the entire sports world right now. To all of this, ESPN’s Pat McAfee had a take on his own, where he called Clark a ‘White B*tch’, while suggesting she has solely pushed the WNBA into a different league.

Since then, the term has been taken out of context, forcing McAfee to issue an apology. The former NFL kicker took to his X’s (formerly Twitter) account to pass on the message.

I shouldn’t have used “white bi**h” as a descriptor of Caitlin Clark. No matter the context.. even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the stuff happening.. I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe. My intentions when saying it were complimentary just like the entire segment but, a lot of folks are saying that it certainly wasn’t at all. That’s 100% on me and for that I apologize… I have sent an apology to Caitlin as well. Everything else I said… still alllllll facts.

Pat McAfee suggests Caitlin Clark is doing more than what other White WNBA superstars have done

In the segment of the Pat McAfee show earlier, the ESPN analyst suggested that Caitlin Clark has solely pushed the fan following of the WNBA.

What the WNBA currently has, is what we like to describe as a 'Cash Cow'. There is a superstar. We are not saying that the players on the court need to act any differently. What you have is somebody special.

He put up graphics depicting ESPN records showcasing the difference in attendance records in the league compared to last year. It showed Cameron Brink and Angel Reese bringing in an average of 2000 additional fans into the arenas. In comparison, Caitlin Clark has brought in an average of 13000 additional fans into the stands whenever she has played.

McAfee also showcased how she has brought fame far and beyond what other ‘White’ superstars of the WNBA could do over the past two decades. Beating out the likes of 3-point contest champion Sabrina Ionescu and 2-time MVP and Champion Breanna Stewart.

He also pointed out that 2-time WNBA champion Kelsey Plum, who also happens to be the previous NCAA women’s scoring record holder, is White, but has not had the same impact. Therefore, Caitlin Clark is doing something special. Not just because of her race.
