In a touching display of compassion that perfectly captured the essence of college football, Pat McAfee was seen making a heartfelt gesture that resonated deeply with the fans. Despite entering AT&T stadium favorite to win against the fifth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes, the Texas Longhorns fell miserably on the field.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers left fans feeling disheartened with a lackluster performance in the Cotton Bowl Classic, marking a disappointing conclusion to his illustrious collegiate career. One of those disheartened fans was a little girl, who arrived at the stadium with her parents to cheer for the Longhorns.
However, her emotions ran high as Texas fell apart on the field and McAfee couldn’t bear his heart to see the young fan disappointed. So he approached her, who was draped in her #1 Longhorns jersey and in tears, and consoled her by shaking her hands and empathizing with her.
“This little Texas girl was crying a bit, bummed out about the Texas Longhorns currently,” he said on the live broadcast about the moment.

Quinn Ewers reflects on his disappointing fumble late in the Cotton Bowl game
Ewers, who previously led Texas to two College Football Playoffs, failed to do it the third time against Will Howard’s Buckeyes. Although Ohio State was standing with a 28-14 lead, Ewers had a chance to turn the game around if only wasn’t sacked by opposing defensive end Jack Sawyers on the fourth down.
In the second half of the game, Ewers attempted to advance his team to a first-and-goal situation but they met with two incomplete passes and ended up facing a critical 3rd-and-goal.
In the high-pressure moment, Ewers prepared to throw before he was tackled by Sawyers, causing the ball to slip off the quarterback’s hands and quickly recovered by the defensive end, racing 83 yards for a touchdown.
