Manchester United legend Patrice Evra is one of the most active players on social media. From controversial takes to hilarious ‘skits’ and opinions, the Frenchman has been a sight to behold for fans of the sport. Recently, the former United man made headlines after being sentenced to a delayed prison sentence in France.
It is understood that the player was handed the sentence for being found guilty of ‘abandoning’ his family and children between the years of 2021-2023. The 43-year-old has been ordered to pay a significant amount as alimony to his wife for legal costs and moral damages. His 12-month punishment has been suspended for a period of two years with provisional execution.
The player has chosen to appeal the decision while also responding hilariously to the same. Recently, the player dressed up as a rapper, wearing a massive gold chain, an oversized wig and shoe on just one leg!
He was seen dancing to the tune of a song, as he bound himself with handcuffs and wore ‘gold’ braces for comical effect. The clip has evoked wild reactions on social media after it went viral.
Fans react to Patrice Evra’s viral video
Not many would react in the same way as Patrice Evra after being handed a prison sentence. Despite it being suspended by a period of two years, the fact that the player made it an occasion to laugh about was surprising to many. A fan commented that Evra was indeed the funniest footballer to ever exist. Another added that only Evra could change such a disastrous situation in his favor.
Some even wondered that Evra might have been the one to start the rumor based on the way he took advantage of the situation. A supporter asked whether Evra was planning on starting a comedy skit channel based on the way he put in effort for his video. Rival fans however, failed to find the funny side of the video, as they criticized the legend for acting like a ’12-year-old’. Les Bleus’ elimination, coupled with Evra’s misfortune felt like a period of bad luck for others.
Many also criticized the former Juventus man for his immature and ‘cringe’ act on social media. Following the verdict, Evra and his lawyer have disputed all claims, stating that the former France captain and Manchester United legend provided a house and significant amounts of money for his wife in the past. Despite being four years since initiating divorce proceedings, the same is yet to be completed.
