Former NBA player Patrick Beverley built a reputation for being a tenacious defender and known for his physicality. He has been involved in a number of publicized on-court incidents during his 12-year NBA career.

Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers as the 42nd pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Patrick Beverley was traded to the Miami Heat in the offseason and was later cut as part of the final roster cuts. He spent the first five years of his pro career overseas, playing in Ukraine, Greece, and Russia.

In 2013, he made his debut in the NBA for the Houston Rockets and went on to play for the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks for the next 12 years.

After his brief stint in Israel, the point guard is back home and focused on growing his podcast business with Barstool Sports. Currently, he is part of two podcasts produced by the company. A few months ago, the 37-year-old was arrested in Texas for 3rd degree felony assault. It was later revealed that he allegedly assaulted his teen sister when she snuck out to meet her boyfriend.

Beverley uploaded a video on his YouTube account, chronicling his version of events just days after his arrest and subsequent release. He recalled receiving a call from his mother at 3 a.m. She told him:

I need you to come over here fast. I went to the house, to my mom’s room. My mom explains to me, sister [is] not in the house when she’s supposed to. This isn’t just a, happened overnight, this has been a constant battle, dealing with a young teenager who’s in love. I just understand that the narrative that people are going off is only based on the police report. I get it, I be looking at that s*** the same way. That’s not at all what happened. Everybody got family issues.

Patrick Beverley went on to say that he grabbed his sister by the hoodie to get her to stop running out to her boyfriend. He went out of the residence and realized that her boyfriend had called the police. When the officers spoke to his sister, Beverley claims her version of the story was different from what had happened, which resulted in him getting detained.

It is always good to hear all sides of the story in such events. He will be feeling a lot better as the truth is out and the public doesn’t have to come up with their own theories and stories.

After listening to his side of the story, fans were quick to express their opinions across social media.

Most of the fans did not seem to believe in Beverley’s version of events. They feel there are holes in his story. As there was no sufficient evidence, the charges were dropped, and Beverley is back to playing basketball in Greece.

Patrick Beverley reignites his beef with Trae Young

Trae Young was one of the few big moves this year. He was traded to the Washington Wizards before the trade deadline for veteran guards Corey Kispert and CJ McCollum.

It is surprising that a player of Young’s caliber was traded for very little, and Beverley questioned why no contending team made a move for the two-time All-Star.

There is no love lost between the two, who engaged in a fiery exchange of words in September 2025. Beverley downplayed Young’s postseason resume and questioned his superstar label, which did not go down well with the point guard.
