When it was revealed that former NBA star Patrick Beverley was arrested for felony assault, basketball fans were happy to learn that he was trying to protect his 15-year-old sister.

Apparently, his underage sister was out with an 18-year-old man, which led the former Milwaukee Bucks star to allegedly lay his hands on him.

Beverley hoped fans did not make up stories as the true events of the night were not revealed. Now they have, and it brought up questions about the point guard’s motive.

Reporter Lauren Conlin of Los Angeles Magazine revealed details from the probable cause affidavit, which stated that Beverley’s 15-year-old sister had snuck out to meet her boyfriend.

When she returned, their mother called Beverley to the house, where he allegedly grabbed the girl by the neck with both hands, lifted her off the ground, squeezed for 20–30 seconds until she couldn’t breathe, carried her while still choking her, slammed her against walls, laid her on a couch, stood over her and punched her once in the left eye.

The affidavit also revealed that Patrick Beverley would ‘be the family member that kills her’ (his sister). Law enforcement officers found marks on her neck and left eye, which led them to come up with this theory.

When fans connected what happened on the night of November 14th, they lambasted the former Chicago Bulls star. After first believing that Patrick Beverley had defended his sister, they now came to conclusion it was the other way around.

They believe that instead of going after the 18-year-old man, he took the easy route and punished his underage sister. Fans took to social media to hurl whatever they could at the 37-year-old for using violence against a woman, examples of which are listed below.

During his 12-year NBA career, Patrick Beverley often identified as the tough-nosed instigator who would rile opposing players enough to bait them into fouls.

This incident, however, has fans believing all the talking he did during his playing days, and nowadays on his podcast, are signs of a man who was not tough enough to take on others. Instead, he choked his sister, more than 20 years younger than him.

Letitia Quinones-Hollins tells TMZ Sports the details laid out from Beverley’s 15-year-old sister to cops in the probable cause affidavit were “given at a time when emotions were high” and don’t tell the truth or the complete story.

She went on to detail that her client was a ‘protector’ and ‘provider’ for the family. In her statement to the publication, the attorney also detailed that Beverley is not a violent man and was not violent that night. Right now, many have difficulty believing her words.
