Behind every helmet is a human being. Sure, they are paid handsomely to perform and win. A guy like Patrick Mahomes, who’s considered one of the best in the sporting world for his achievements, has gone above and beyond to prove his worth. In seven seasons, Mahomes has led his team to a championship thrice, more than some legends of the game have in their entire career.
The 2024-25 season wasn’t theirs. The Chiefs famously lost to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. That’s the thing about sport, not always, the fate is in one team or one person’s corner. It just wasn’t Mahomes or the Chiefs’ day. Nevertheless, some criticism is sure to follow. Mostly, the criticisms remain football-oriented and harmless.
Recently, Kevin Kietzman, however, broke away from the territory mentioned above and launched a direct and personal attack on Mahomes. To be precise, Mahomes’ body and his offseason regimen.
He’s fat, he’s an embarrassment. Stop the fast food, do a sit-up, do something. I don’t understand it. You can’t just run through your NFL career eating Taco Bell all the time and door-dashing fried chicken. You’ve got a $500 million contract; it’s your job. He’s done nothing but eat and drink this offseason.

The star quarterback has previously been taunted for his dad’s body, and Mahomes has also responded. In a sit-down with Tom Brady, Mahomes explained that his physical shape helps him to throw efficiently on the fly. He also added that the body fat helps in absorbing the hits taken by the player on the field. Even Brady chipped in agreeing with Mahomes’ take.
Kansas City-based podcaster/radio host Kevin Kietzman had some harsh words to say today about Patrick Mahomes' offseason training regimen.

The claim was cemented by Mahomes’ trainer Bobby Stroupe, who elaborated on the benefits of a certain percentage of body fat on a quarterback’s body.
Patrick Mahomes isn’t the only quarterback who has been shamed for their physique and regimen during the offseason. Earlier this offseason, Tua Tagovailoa also came under fire for not following and maintaining a stereotypical athletic body. He was questioned by fans and critics for partying on a boat and drinking beer in the offseason.
Actually, Patrick Mahomes has been putting in the work this offseason
As a prominent sports figure, the Super Bowl loss has impacted Patrick Mahomes as a sportsman as well. After the loss to the Eagles, Patrick Mahomes noted that there were elements he could have controlled and played better. He also admitted that he has extra motivation now that he has tasted the SB loss once again.

In the offseason, Mahomes has been training in order to improve his skills, and he has been taking help from one of the best in the game, Tom Brady. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has made it clear that he is aiming to build a legacy that could one day match or even surpass the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
In a recent interview with Kay Adams, Mahomes shared that he has spoken to Brady multiple times during the offseason. He expressed how much he values the advice and mentorship, especially considering that Brady is under no obligation to help.
He didn’t have to be like that, he’s such a good dude. I have so much respect for him, and I’ll take any advice he gives me.
The young quarterback also reflected on how lucky he feels to play for Kansas City, surrounded by great teammates, while answering Adams’ question about his thoughts on the legacy he will leave behind. He said that Brady’s willingness to help motivates him even more to improve and achieve greater things.
