There was a lot of concern amongst the Kansas City Chiefs’ fans after Travis Kelce‘s slow start to the season. The star tight end’s production was at an all-time low and all signs pointed out to the obvious, that he was not going to touch 1,000 yards at the end of the season. Kelce ended the regular season with 823 yards and 3 touchdowns.

However, in the first playoff game, he got off to a hot start. Travis Kelce had 117 yards and one touchdown in Kansas City’s 23-14 win over the Houston Texans. While fans and critics did not expect him to dominate in such fashion, Patrick Mahomes knew this performance was bound to happen.

Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games…This is Playoff Trav. He’s a leader, man. This is what he lives for, is playing in these moments, having the chance to make big-time plays. He goes out there and does that, and it seems like he does it in every single playoff game.

Mahomes knew that it was just a matter of time before ‘Killa Trav’ as he likes to call himself was back in form.

Travis Kelce is in a position to create history in the postseason

The tight end thrives in the postseason and his numbers show that. He ranks second behind Jerry Rice in all-time postseason receiving yards and touchdowns. Kelce needs just 226 yards and three more touchdowns to overtake Rice and solidify his greatness.

As the Kansas City Chiefs have two more games left in the post-season, provided they win in the AFC Championship, Kelce can set the record in another month. The Chiefs-Texans battle was not one without controversy. Many football fans alleged the referees missed numerous calls and favored the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 177 yards and 1 touchdown while Kareem Hunt scored a rushing touchdown. The rest were points scored by Harrison Butker. For C.J. Stroud, it was a quiet night as he threw for 245 yards but failed to find his receivers in the endzone.

Despite the frustration of critics, Kansas City is progressing and on track to win its third-straight Super Bowl. The team has one hump in its way and that is Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills who are looking hungry to defeat Kansas City after years of losing to them.
