Ahead of the Super Bowl LIX, former Major League Baseball pitchers Pat Mahomes Sr. and John Rocker were involved in a heated verbal exchange outside a restaurant in New Orleans. The confrontation was captured on video and later shared on social media, drawing significant attention.

Mahomes Sr., an 11-year MLB career spanning six teams, stood outside the establishment when Rocker exited and extended his hand for a handshake. Mahomes, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, declined the gesture and pushed Rocker’s hand away.

This action escalated into a verbal dispute between the two former athletes. They exchanged heated insults, with Mahomes referring to Rocker as a “menace to society.” The exchange was eventually diffused before any physical altercation took place.

Dave Portnoy, of Barstool Sports, later admitted that the altercation was a publicity stunt for a Rough N Rowdy fight between Pat Mahomes Sr. and John Rocker. He claimed that he’s almost a cent percent sure about the fight, but also admitted he hasn’t seen the signed contract yet.

I don’t know, that’s why I don’t want the paperwork to get ripped up. I think it is. I believe we have a signed agreement for Mahomes Sr. to fight John Rocker at Rough ‘N’ Rowdy. I think it’s 100 percent, but I haven’t seen the signed paperwork yet.

John Rocker and Pat Mahomes Sr. took their fight to X

John Rocker had a very small career in the MLB. After being drafted in the 18th round of the MLB Draft, he primarily played for the Atlanta Braves while being part of three other teams. He later also appeared in the Survivor with his girlfriend.

On the other hand, Pat Mahomes Sr. played for a couple of teams spanning from 1992 to 2003. He is primarily associated with the New York Mets. Pat Mahomes, has been quite controversial in recent times including his third DUI a few months ago.

John Rocker and Pat Mahomes Sr. didn’t stop their altercation. The arguments and insults mounted on each other on social media as well.

Even if Dave Portnoy is right about this, there has been some animosity between the two for some time. The Braves and Mets are strong rivals with a history and Rocker has been controversial for years. The old fans would definitely remember the pitcher’s comments on the New York minority, gay, and immigrant community in a 1999 SI article.
