Had Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LIX, it would have been the perfect send off for Travis Kelce. The superstar tight end could have walked away from the sport knowing that no one could achieve what he just did in football.

However, fate did not work on their side, as they were embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes had an awful game and his partner in crime did not fare any better. Since that loss, the most obvious question was if the 10-time Pro Bowler still had it in him.

He asked for time to think over his future, with many thinking he might call it a day. There were rumors of him not being physically fit enough, and then there were those that felt he wanted to settle down with Taylor Swift. After weeks of speculation, Pat McAfee came up with an update earlier at the NFL Combine.

I’m coming back for sure. Gonna try to and get into the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop. Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and with how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!

Pat McAfee revealed what Travis Kelce said

The former kicker and now broadcaster read out this from the text he received from Travis Kelce himself. The latest clip on the New Heights X feed also pointed towards such an announcement the 35-year-old will be making himself.

Patrick Mahomes excited for Travis Kelce’s return

Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach seemingly confirmed that their star tight end was returning. But it was not a fully confirmed from the horse’s mouth type of a confirmation. But now, this text to Pat McAfee has put any possible rumor to bed leaving Patrick Mahomes excited as ever.

He posted a GIF on X against the ESPN report, confirming his close friend was returning. His excitement is natural, considering no one has caught more passes from him than Travis Kelce. They know how each other operates and, combined with their experience, have pulled out game winning scenarios far too many times.

Every quarterback needs one such player on the field. His receiving group rotated all of last season. Therefore, he must be breathing a sigh of relief that his most dependable option will be there next season. However, chances are he will not play beyond next season.

The Ohio native has one year left on his contract. He will be 36 years old and clarified that a year of playoff football takes heavy toll on his body. There is a possibility he might actually hang up his cleats after next season, leaving Mahomes and the Chiefs one year to look for a replacement.
