Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs were in prime position to become the first team to ever win three-straight Super Bowls. Their form throughout the season might have been suspect, but they are proven champions with an affinity to make something out of nothing when the stakes are high.

However, against the Philadelphia Eagles, they felt hapless, as the eventual Super Bowl champions beat the brakes of the Chiefs from the first snap. Their total team effort saw them win their second ever Super Bowl, and their opponents were left to rue a game they could have won, had they had a few things working for them.

Prime among their problems last season was the inconsistent offensive line. Their lack of a stellar running game meant they had to depend on Patrick Mahomes‘ brilliance a lot more in the Super Bowl than they would have liked.

After the loss, members of the media and football fans were quick to point out that the Chiefs’ overconfidence became their undoing. Now, months after that loss, Patrick Mahomes was at the Chiefs’ OTAs, where reporters asked if the Super Bowl loss had brought a new sense of motivation.

It’s hard. When you lose a Super Bowl, I think there’s sometimes in those workouts, you may be a little tired, you have that extra added motivation to finish even harder, finish even stronger.

Patrick Mahomes said

The three-time Super Bowl MVP added that his teammates did not lose many games last season. Not winning a Super Bowl despite that run was hard to digest. Which is why they have been putting in the extra work to try and win the Vince Lombardi trophy this season.

Chiefs running it back with Patrick Mahomes and most of his starters

Before they embarked on their hopes of capturing the three-peat, the Kansas City Chiefs had assembled a stellar roster. On paper, everyone believed the franchise had created a team that would be difficult to stop.

It seemed that the predictions were true after the team finished the regular season with a 15-2 record despite losing some key players to injuries and that inconsistent offensive line. This time around, the Chiefs are hoping that running it back with essentially the same roster would make a difference.

Patrick Mahomes and his teammates will get to play the full season together again. That means the franchise is banking on their chemistry and collective desire to win a ring. The team wants to use the embarrassment from Super Bowl LIX to light their fire.

If this team can stay healthy and the offensive line gets better by playing together, most people betting their hard-earned money would not want to place props on any other team. The Chiefs have a championship-caliber team, and this time, they want to make sure there are no excuses.

Patrick Mahomes and his wife’s investments ballooning off the field

Mahomes might have lost the chance to etch his name in NFL history as the only quarterback to helm three straight Super Bowl wins, but he is winning off the field. He and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, had invested in the NWSL club, the Kansas City Current, back in 2022.

The exact number they invested is not known, however, the club has seen an astronomical rise in value ever since the NFL power couple became a part of it. As per the latest reports, the Current have reached a value of $275 million.
