Patrick Mahomes last played for Texas Tech back in 2016, but that doesn’t mean he forgot about his alma mater. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback recently dedicated a generous $5 million to the school.

That money will be used in the school’s $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project. College football insider Brett McMurphy shared the report on X (previously known as Twitter).

When we first launched this campaign, Patrick was only a freshman, and now it is fitting that we approach the end of the campaign with a gift of his own. We couldn't be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. We are so proud of Patrick for all he has accomplished and how he has continually supported Texas Tech on a global scale.
Kirby Hocutt said per Texas Tech’s official website

Mahomes has attended several Red Raiders games in the past. The school inducted the 28-year-old into the Hall of Fame in 2022, surprising him with a video from his stint in TT at the Kansas City Chiefs Arrowhead Stadium.

The Red Raiders head coach, John McGuire, claimed Mahomes was the poster child of the school even after graduating almost 8 years ago.

There isn't a greater ambassador for Texas Tech Athletics than Patrick Mahomes… Since my hiring here at Texas Tech, it's been evident to me just how much Patrick truly loves this university and football program, and this gift further emphasizes that.

Mahomes’ is part of the ‘Dynasty’ in the latest edition of the EA College Football game. It means gamers can use the multiple-time NFL MVP in the college game.

Thanks to our partnership with the NFLPA, the mode will include active players like Patrick Mahomes, Davante Adams, Christian McCaffrey, Josh Allen, Ceedee Lamb, Stefon Diggs, Joe Burrow, and many more who can join your squad.
EA said in a press release

Mahomes may be delighted by helping TT with the amount, but it’s time to focus back on football. The Chiefs lost all three of their pre-season games. Mahomes appeared in week 2 and shocked the crowd with a behind-the-back pass to Travis Kelce. They will kick off their 2024 campaign by hosting the Baltimore Ravens.
