Football fans who tuned in to watch the 2023-24 AFC Divisional round game may remember Patrick Mahomes scampering into the High Mark Stadium tunnel to save himself from the bombardment of snowballs by the Buffalo Bills fans. While it’s unlikely to snow this Sunday, Mahomes is aware that he and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates will experience a hostile environment at Orchard Park.

The Chiefs are set to travel to the Meadowlands on the back of two straight wins over the Las Vegas Raiders and the Washington Commanders, conceding just seven points in the process. The Bills, on the other hand, lost momentum with back-to-back losses against the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons before returning to winning ways with a 40-9 win over the Carolina Panthers last week.

Both teams have 5 wins after eight weeks of football, but KC finds itself below the Bills in the race for the AFC number one seed by virtue of one extra defeat. Mahomes and Co. can flip the status quo in their favor with a win in Buffalo. However, the former league MVP knows that the Bills fans will not make it easy for them.

They [Bills Mafia] do not like the Chiefs. It is a cool environment. I love playing in historic stadiums, and that stadium has had so many great players play in it. Who knows, it might be the last time that we get the opportunity to play there. It will be a great challenge for us, and they’re loud, and that’s what you want, you want to go in and be in a hostile environment.

Mahomes is also wary about going head-to-head with the reigning NFL MVP, Josh Allen.

The way [Josh’s] able to extend plays, get close to the sideline, and make these big-time throws down the field — that stuff is special… he’s a great football player.

FOX Sports analyst claims that the Chiefs Game is the “Bills’ annual Super Bowl”

The Chiefs-Bills fixture tends to generate immense hype throughout the country. In recent years, it has witnessed record-breaking views, whether in the regular season or in the playoffs.

Week 9 promises to be a feisty affair, and the result can go either way. Amidst the buildup, Chiefs superfan and FOX Sports analyst Nick Wright made a statement that has garnered attention on the internet.

Wright, who has always been critical of Allen and the Bills, claimed that Sunday’s fixture is the AFC East franchise’s annual Super Bowl.

For the Chiefs, it’s just a Week 9 game. But it’s very fun for the Chiefs to get prepared for the actual Super Bowl with someone else’s Super Bowl. The Bills’ annual Super Bowl is this Sunday at Highmark Field.

For Wright’s information, Allen holds the upper hand over Mahomes in previous regular-season matchups. He has won four of the last five matchups, including a 30-17 win in November 2024.

Mahomes, on the other hand, leads the postseason series against Allen. The All-Pro shot caller has won all four meetings in the playoffs, including a 32-29 victory in the AFC Conference Championship game on January 26.

The Bills are the underdogs in their own backyard. According to BetMGM sportsbook, the Chiefs have opened as a slender -1 point favorite to secure their sixth win of the season.
