With all teams looking towards their final three games of the season, many are still working on improving their playoff position. The Kansas City Chiefs are in the hunt for a playoff bye and do not want to waste the chance of earning a week’s rest. But that also depends heavily on QB Patrick Mahomes’ health.
The superstar quarterback went down with both his weight and that of Browns’ defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. all on his feet. That injured his ankle, and he limped off the field. Later in the tunnels he was seen hobbling after reports confirmed he suffered a high ankle sprain.
That was in a play where he scrambled outside to get the ball out of harm’s way. But when he is inside the pocket, he needs his offensive linemen to play at a high level. They have not been doing that well so far as Patrick Mahomes ranks in the bottom ten in sacks this season.
With the Christmas double-header coming up and their first-round bye on the line, Patrick Mahomes decided to give his blockers some motivation. Journalist Kay Adams was at the Chiefs facilities when she was informed about some goodies in the locker room. She tweeted this on her X account with some proof.
Um, can I be an offensive lineman for Patrick Mahomes when I grow up???!

She listed some of the gifts that the three-time Super Bowl MVP lined up for his offensive linemen. But the pictures also show a couple of Louis Vuitton boxes along with some other brands. Anything that could motivate them in their quest to three-peat.
Patrick Mahomes’ health is dependent on that offensive line
After Patrick Mahomes went down with that ankle injury, it left fans with their hands over their heads. They know all too well that if the Kansas City Chiefs are to win their third straight Super Bowl, they need their otherworldly quarterback healthy. That comes down to the offensive line and their need to protect him.
Prior to the start of the season, many felt the offense was the best on paper. But after fifteen weeks of play, that offensive line has the quarterback running for dear life. Rookie Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris have had their fair share of struggles so far on the left side.
So much so, that the franchise dived into the waiver market to get hold of DJ Humphries to get some much-needed cover. If anything, that unit needs to sit down and figure out together how to keep Patrick Mahomes upright. The Chiefs need their collective efforts if they are to create history.
