With a conference title secured and a bye week to rest, the Kansas City Chiefs are all set to play their first postseason game as they aim to move a step closer to the historic peat. But it seems superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is determined to let his opponents know exactly who they are up against in the Divisional Round.

The three-peat Super Bowl champion caught the eyes of B/R Gridiron recently over updating his Instagram profile picture. Although it may not seem significant at first, the timing is far from coincidental. He updated it with a picture of himself flexing his three glorious Super Bowl rings which he earned over the span of five years, just ahead of a matchup against a team that has yet to win any.

After winning two consecutive Vince Lombardi trophies and establishing the Chiefs as a dynasty in the league, Mahomes and the team are chasing the historic three-peat. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans have struggled for the entire existence of the franchise to earn a Super Bowl ring, despite having a promising run under C.J. Stroud

Given the circumstances, Mahomes’ social media activity certainly reflects his aim to intimidate the Texans, especially his team also have a home-field advantage where they held a 15-game winning streak until the Buffalo Bills ended it during the regular season.

Interestingly though, Mahomes’ social media activity which quickly got over 1,115,000 in just two hours, was not made by him recently. The followers of the elite quarterbacks are likely aware that the ‘three Super Bowl ring’ picture has been his profile picture for quite some time now, which suggests that the recent update was merely a tactic for some social media engagement.

Patrick Mahomes sets high expectations for Travis Kelce in playoffs

While it remains a question whether or not Mahomes wants to intimate Stroud-led Texas, he does have certain high expectations from his best friend and star tight end Travis Kelce to level up his game in the postseason. Even though the Chiefs are an 8.5-point favorite to win against the Texans, the quarterback wants Kelce to get in his dominating form.

I think the greats step up in the playoffs. It’s just higher intensity and the best players and the best leaders step up and make the best plays. He’s done that and I expect the same from him going into this playoffs.

Patrick Mahomes told Josh Alper of NBC Sports

The Chiefs are no doubt confident about his ability to make history this season, but the three-time Super Bowl MVP doesn’t want to leave anything to chance. And in times of pressure, no one handles it better than Kelce.
