It has been five years since the Philadelphia Eagles drafted their franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts. He has since taken them to the postseason every year and led them to two Super Bowl appearances, both respectable feats yet Hurts remains an underdog, a quarterback that is looked down on whereas his peers who have achieved far less receive more flowers than him.
The logic behind the doubt surrounding Jalen Hurts and his ability to lead is baffling to many, including Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs quarterback was asked the reason that Hurts continues to be doubted by critics. That is a question to which he, too, had no answer because it makes no sense. After all, Jalen Hurts has done more for his team than a few veteran quarterbacks have.

While the ultimate goal of every team is to win the championship game, there are a few years where other feats must be recognized and celebrated as well. For Philadelphia, the fact that they now have a quarterback who can keep taking them back to the Super Bowl is commendable. Winning it will mean more, and rightfully so, but even if they fall short, this is a team capable of competing yet again next season.
The reason for Hurts being doubted at this stage of his career could be because of inconsistencies in his game. For the most part, he is a good quarterback who steps up to the plate, but there are times when he is not feeling it or is unable to get things going, which leads people to bash him. Apart from this, there is a notion that Jalen Hurts looks like a good quarterback due to the system he has around him.

Irrespective of the criticism, Jalen Hurts has the chance to wipe the slate clean and silence his critics on Sunday. The Philadelphia Eagles cannot win solely on Saquon Barkley‘s performance in the Super Bowl.
The team’s quarterback will have a big role to play in helping them achieve this feat because the buck stops with him.
