Patrick Mahomes dropped by at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday to witness history as the Kansas City Royals played their first playoff game since 2015. The NFL quarterback may be on a tight schedule but did not want to miss the high-voltage tie against the New York Yankees.

The game began after a ceremonial first throw from Royals legend Eric Hosmer, followed by a jumbotron appearance from Mahomes, which received massive applause from the locals. The weather was perfect for a memorable post-season outing.

After an initial hiccup, the Royals managed to keep pace with the Yankees and eventually got the upper hand as the game progressed. A clip from the game showed Mahomes trash-talking his former wide receiver Gehrig Dieter wearing a Yankees shirt following the Royals game-tying rally.

It went viral in a matter of moments. The 3x Super Bowl wasn’t the only Mahomes attending the game. According to the Daily Mail, his brother Jackson Mahomes accompanied the Kansas City Chiefs signal caller in the VIP suit along with some of his friends.

Mahomes was able to attend the game because it’s a bye week for the Chiefs. Most players visit their hometown or college alma mater to spend some downtime. Patrick’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, had similar plans, but according to the pro bowler, they had to adjust their schedule because of the game.

It’s bye week, so Brittany’s vacationing and me getting to the Royals game, we’ll feud for sure.

Patrick Mahomes said via ESPN’s SportsCenter.

The Royals faced disappointment in the end as the Yankees scored a late point to secure a hard-fought 2-3 win.

Patrick Mahomes is a part owner of the Kansas City Royals

Baseball was a big part of Mahomes while growing up. His father, Mahomes Sr., played Major League Baseball for both the Yankees and Royals during his youth.

His son followed in his footsteps and played ball during high school and for a limited time in college. The younger Mahomes was a promising pitcher until he switched to football and joined Texas Tech, according to his mother, Randi Martins.

Late after making a name for himself with the Chiefs, Patrick bought a stake in the Royals in 2019, which became official in 2020.

I love this city and the people of this great town. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, which is something I’m excited to do.

Patrick Mahomes said.

Furthermore, Patrick and Brittany also partly own the National Women’s Soccer League team Sporting KC. Similar to her husband, Brittany also comes from a sports background. She played soccer for the University of Texas before marrying him.
