Amidst the Kanas City Chiefs’ impressive 9-1 season, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce encountered a frightening incident in their personal lives after their houses were burglarized within 24 hours few weeks ago. After a month of investigation, the home burglaries of the star players were not random but targeted by “very sophisticated people.”

The incidents took place in the early weeks of October but the news broke into the media very recently. Since the investigation into both cases is ongoing, the players could not provide any specific details, including whether they were at the house at the time of the incidents.

FOX4 reported on Wednesday that the high-end home burglaries were targeted by highly intelligent crime rings. The police seem to believe that this crime ring is based in South America, whose members executed the attempted robbery at Mahomes’ Belton, Mo., residence and Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas City, home.

This is a sophisticated operation, it’s not some guy that’s going down to the local pawn shop. It doesn’t surprise me at all that this crime spree that is going across the entire country is designed by some very sophisticated people in somewhat of a cartel.

Security expert Mike Barbieri told FOX4.

Besides the Chiefs’ star players, a third victim has been identified by FOX4 and these are not the only three victims of this organized crime. The police are convinced that those who have recently remodeled their homes are the targets of this crime ring, as workers at these job sites may have connections to the cartel.

Patrick Mahomes expresses disappointment over home burglary

According to TMZ, who first reported the home burglaries of Mahomes and Kelce, the quarterback’s residence in Belton was invaded at midnight on October 7, whereas the tight end’s mansion in Leawood was robbed around 7:33 p.m., during the Chiefs’ game against the New Orleans Saints.

It’s disappointing. Obviously something that you don’t want to have happen to really anybody, but obviously yourself.

Mahomes said about the incident after the news broke into the media.

Due to the incident, Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift stayed at a hotel after the game on October 7. Fortunately, the three-time Super Bowl MVP was also not at home due to practice; however, it remains uncertain whether his pregnant wife, Brittany, and their two children were present at the time.
