Travis Kelce always supports his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Sometimes the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end stands beside the pop icon to cheer her, and when he’s not with her, Kelce silently backs the 35-year-old’s every venture. So, it was no different when Swift reclaimed the rights to the ‘Masters.’

On Friday, Swift announced that she had bought the ‘masters,’ or the original recordings of her first six albums, from Shamrock Capital. Swift’s website documented the news.

She personally wrote a letter to tell her fans across the globe about the good news. Although she didn’t reveal the financial aspect of the deal, she revealed being elated by the development.

I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I’ve ever made…now belongs to…me.

Swift posted a photo of herself sitting on the floor and surrounded by her first six albums on Instagram.

Travis Kelce quickly liked the photo, winning over the Swifties for the umpteenth time.

Kelce’s best mate and Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, supported Swift by retweeting a post about her ‘Masters’ takeover.

Why didn’t Taylor Swift own her first six albums?

Swift lost ownership of her first six albums in 2018 when she left Big Machine Records. She signed with Universal Music Group’s Public Records in the same year.

The Grammy winner tried her best to own the music and songs she created, but the situation worsened when Big Machine sold her masters to Ithaca Holdings.

‘Bad Blood’ brewed between Swift and Big Machine’s Scooter Braun. She blamed Baun for blindsiding her with the deal. Even rapper Kanye West faced her wrath in a Tumblr post after the deal was finalized.

Swift revealed that she walked away from Big Machine because she predicted Scott Borchetta would sell her albums. She viewed it in the same light as someone selling her talent and pride.

I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past.

Borchetta, on the other hand, blamed Swift for ditching the label in its trying times. Her albums changed hands once more in 2020. Shamrock Capital acquired the rights to the album catalog by agreeing to a reported £222 million deal.

Swift’s team didn’t give up on trying to reacquire the albums. They approached Braun and later spoke with Shamrock Capital. Braun revealed in a later interview that he offered to sell the records back to Swift, but they refused.

They finally found common ground, and Swift announced that she now owns the ‘Masters’ album catalogue.

All I’ve ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy.

Kelce’s reaction on Instagram proved he’s always there to support Swift. The pair recently spent quiet a time in Florida. Curious bystanders witnessed Kelce and Swift dine at a local restaurant before leaving as quietly as they had arrived.

A chunk of the Kelce family gathered in Philadelphia to celebrate Mother’s Day. Donna Kelce, Travis’ older brother Jason Kelce, and his wife Kylie Kelce were also present. Jason revealed that Swift met his and Kylie’s newborn Finn at the gathering.
