The Kansas City Chiefs delivered one of their most efficient performances of the season on Week 7 Sunday, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 31–0 at Arrowhead Stadium. The result marked Kansas City’s fourth consecutive victory and the Raiders’ most one-sided loss in the long history of the rivalry.
The game’s best moment came midway through the second quarter. Facing a fourth-and-one on their own 40-yard line, quarterback Patrick Mahomes appeared to question the play call before the snap, drawing the attention of several Raiders defenders.
As the defense hesitated, Mahomes quickly handed off to Kareem Hunt, who gained the first down. The drive continued and ended with a touchdown, giving the Chiefs a 14–0 lead that they never relinquished. It surprised even the executioner himself. Mahomes was heard yelling, “This play never (expletive) works, man!”

The quarterback revisited this moment in his postgame interview. After all, some questions needed to be answered, especially where Mahomes picked up such acting skills.
I think it comes from all my State Farm commercials.

The Chiefs were brilliant on the field and otherwise as well, as they shut the Raiders out from scoring. Mahomes completed 26 of 31 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns, finishing with a passer rating of 136.2. Two of his scoring throws went to Rashee Rice, who recorded 42 receiving yards in his first start since his suspension ended last week.
Rice was barred from six games by the NFL after he was arrested following his involvement in a chain-car collision and his choice to ditch the scene without checking on the injured. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce contributed 54 yards on three receptions. Marquise Brown added the third touchdown reception.
With the win, the Kansas City Chiefs are back to winning ways and above .500 record. The Chiefs, who started the season last in the division, have climbed up one place. The Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers are both 4-3, while the Denver Broncos, who pulled off an insane last thirty-second drive against the New York Giants on Sunday evening, lead the division with five wins.
Travis Kelce praises Patrick Mahomes amid the deceiving wild play and scintillating win
Kelce has never hesitated to credit his QB for Kansas City’s success. In light of Patrick Mahomes’ unique style of play and the trick he pulled on the Las Vegas Raiders’ defense, Kelce has once again showered praises on the 30-year-old dad of three.

Speaking about Mahomes’ approach to improvement, Kelce described a level of commitment that continues to shape both the quarterback’s career and the culture of the Chiefs’ organization.
He’s just always gonna do what he can to get better.
Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have emerged as one of the star player duos in the league. Their production rate has declined in the past two seasons, but they have led the team to success on multiple occasions. The season’s beginning wasn’t ideal for the Chiefs, and bouncing back from the initial setback was far from easy.
The reason why the Chiefs were able to pull this off was somewhat answered in Kelce’s post-game comment about Mahomes. He emphasized that Mahomes’ greatest strength may lie beyond his physical talent or creativity on the field.
That’s why I love playing with him. That’s why this team is gonna get better throughout the year — because we all have that mentality.
“He’s just always gonna make sure he’s doing what he can to get better, and that’s why I love playing with him.”

The Chiefs return to action next week on Monday primetime when they face a grappling Washington Commanders. The Commanders, who were on fire last year, haven’t been able to replicate that generational run. The Chiefs will have a tough duel coming from a franchise that desperately needs a win against a big team.
