Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, once again called Novak Djokovic an authentic person. Mouratoglou pointed out that nothing can force Djokovic to do something that is against his personal values and beliefs.

Djokovic recently sat for an interview with Piers Morgan, during which, among other things, he talked about why he turned down “a lot of” sponsorship deals. The 24-time Grand Slam champion endorses brands such as Lacoste, ASICS, Aman, Waterdrop, Hublot, etc.

During that interview with Morgan, Djokovic said he and his team don’t like to give all information about his brand deals to Forbes or to anyone because “it’s none of their business“. One partnership that Djokovic refused is from a famous drink brand (he did reveal the name).

That’s one of the reasons why I like Novak so much, and I’ve always said it. He’s a true person. Money will never make him do something that he doesn’t believe in. Oh, but it’s easy for him to do that because he makes so much money. Most of the guys who make the same amounts of money they don’t turn down deals for personal beliefs. And second, don’t believe that people who have a lot of money don’t want a lot more money. Novak is one of the only guys for whom money is not a value, which is difficult to say for a value, which is difficult to say for a lot of other people.

Patrick Mouratoglou said on his Instagram

Mouratoglou pointed out that it’s not easy for players to turn down lucrative offers. He said it’s important for them to accumulate a great amount of fortune while playing because once their career is over, they have to find another way of making money.

So it makes sense for them to make as much money as they can during that short window that they have of maybe 10, 15 years in which they can make the money.

Patrick Mouratoglou added

The 38-year-old has accumulated $191,252,375 in prize money from his tennis career. And outside of tennis, he earns approximately $25 million a year from sponsorship deals, if reports are to be believed.

Novak Djokovic is vacationing in the Turks and Caicos Islands

The 2025 season has ended, and Novak Djokovic took home two ATP 250 tournaments in Geneva and Athens by defeating Hubert Hurkacz and Lorenzo Musetti, respectively. Djokovic couldn’t end his Big Title drought as he lost the Miami Open final to Jakub Mensik, while in the four Majors, he failed to reach the final.

He was last seen in action in the first edition of the Hellenic Championship in Athens, as he withdrew from the ATP Finals due to a lingering shoulder injury. The former World No.1 finished the season as World No.4.

During the Davis Cup Finals, where Italy completed a three-peat by defeating Spain, the Serb went to Bologna to pay tribute to his late mentor Nicola Pilic. At present, Djokovic is in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British Overseas Territory southeast of the Bahamas. He took to his Instagram and shared a picture of himself from Amanyara Resort, and wrote, “Chilling me softly” as a caption.

The last Big Title that Djokovic won was at the Paris Olympics, by defeating Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic wants to continue his search for his elusive 25th Grand Slam title, and he told reporters after his win in Athens that his dream is to hang up his racket at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Djokovic ended the season with a 39-11 win-loss record. He is now a 101-time singles title winner, the third most on the men’s tour.
