Renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou has described Carlos Alcaraz as an ’emotional player’ who needs to revisit his tennis schedule. Alcaraz, the World No. 3, has experienced a dip in form since losing the Olympic gold medal match to Novak Djokovic.

On social media, Mouratoglou, who recently coached Holger Rune, said that the Spaniard needs to go back to the drawing board. He believes that a lack of mental breaks could affect Alcaraz’s ability to maintain longevity in the game.

He was exhausted, mentally exhausted. I am not surprised that he is saying that he had so many thoughts and so many emotions that he couldn’t deal with. That is exactly the consequence of someone who is emotionally drained. If you are not fresh here [in the mind], it is more and more difficult to do it.
Patrick Mouratoglou said in a recent report

Alcaraz has been an exceptional player over the past two seasons. However, he has recently struggled to recover from tough losses. Last year, he lost a close Cincinnati Open final to Djokovic and was seen in tears after the match. His performance dipped afterwards, and he couldn’t win another tournament for the rest of the season.

He’s very, very emotional. We’ve seen him cramp many times already...He’s an emotional player. So I think that knowing that, in the future, they will have to think of a calendar where he has enough rest – mental rest, not physical rest. Mental rest. I think it is very important for his future.
Patrick Mouratoglou added

Alcaraz was also seen crying after losing the gold medal match in Paris. He entered the Cincinnati Open without ideal preparation and lost in the opening round to Gael Monfils, where his emotions once again got the better of him as he smashed his racket in the third set.

Carlos Alcaraz set to compete at Madison Square Garden

Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro, two American tennis players, will face each other in an exhibition match at Madison Square Garden on December 4. The event, called The Garden Cup, will also include a match between Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton. This will be the first tennis event at MSG since 2018.

Pegula had a strong run at the U.S. Open, reaching her first Grand Slam final but losing to Aryna Sabalenka in a close match. Navarro also had a great tournament, beating defending champion Coco Gauff in the fourth round and reaching the semifinals before falling to Sabalenka.

Both Pegula and Navarro are currently in the WTA’s Top 10. Pegula is ranked No. 3, and Navarro is at No. 8. Alcaraz had a successful season, winning the French Open and Wimbledon, but lost early at the U.S. Open. Shelton’s best Grand Slam result was reaching the semifinals at the U.S. Open last year, but this year, he was knocked out in the third round.
