Fights between rival fans often end with one side lying flat on the ground. One such incident took place outside Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.
A skirmish between a New England Patriots fan and a Broncos fan broke out as they headed back to their homes. A video clip of the exchange found its way onto X.
The clip showed fans shouting NSFW words at each other before one wearing a Patriots hoodie threw a right hook at someone in a Bo Nix jersey. It’s unclear what happened afterwards because whoever uploaded the video didn’t specify much information.

What caused the fight between the Patriots and the Broncos fans?
Tension was through the roof in Colorado. Fans wearing Patriots gear had taken over the streets in support of their favorite club. It made sense because they were back in the AFC title game after an eight-year hiatus.

Fans of the Broncos had waited even longer than that. Their last rodeo on this stage was during the 2015-16 season when Denver won the Super Bowl.
Sean Payton was tasked with matching the feat of that championship-winning team. The Broncos won the AFC West and the divisional playoff game with a second-year quarterback pulling the strings from under center. However, Nix ended up on the injured reserve list with a fractured ankle.
The responsibility of winning the Broncos’ fourth Lombardi Trophy fell on Jarrett Stidham. Payton raved about the Auburn graduate, but analysts wrote Denver off. Fans showed their full support in below-freezing temperatures. However, the Patriots emerged victorious with a narrow 10-7 scoreline.
It didn’t take long for the Broncos supporters to head for the exit. Some Patriots fans accompanied them to avoid the rush. However, it proved to be a huge mistake. There’s bound to be a boom if anyone puts fireworks next to a fire. That’s exactly what happened.
A Patriots fan knocked out a Broncos fan. The situation had all the ingredients for igniting a blown out war. Thankfully, there were a few smart and sober bystanders who quickly defused the altercation quickly. That being said, it’s still unclear why the fight broke out in the first place. Was it something one of them said or did? Only those who were in the proximity have the answer.
Football season brings out the best and the worst in everyone. The fight in Denver wasn’t the only altercation that happened in the postseason. Back in December last year, a group of Eagles’ fans were filmed throwing beer cans at 49ers fans outside the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The scoreline might make it seem like chances were scarce, but that’s not entirely accurate. Stidham threw the first touchdown of the game, followed by a rushing score from Patriots QB Drake Maye. However, Denver held New England’s high-powered offense to just 206 yards, but the Broncos only mustered 181 yards of total offense themselves.
I know this: I’m going to look at [the film] and be critical of myself. There are a number of things that we just had to do better. We didn’t finish some runs, we dropped some passes again — I felt like that was a problem all year.
Sean Payton said post-game (H/T: Newsweek)
The final nail in the coffin came from Stidham’s hands. Near the final moments, Stidham threw a bad interception that tipped the game in the Patriots’ favor. New England moves on to the Super Bowl while Payton and his brigade of Broncos will try again next campaign.
