The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl clash at Levi’s Stadium is reportedly set to be one of the most expensive sporting events in the nation’s history. According to early reports, the current “get-in” prices for the coveted event range from $7,000 across major resale platforms.

The complimentary services of a ticket have also seen an exponential increase in recent days. Airfares, Hotel prices, and even car rentals are also seeing price increases. The increased activity around the event has even forced airlines to add more routes and seats to accommodate the projected spike in travel to San Jose in the coming days.

United Airlines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue have added additional flights from Boston and Seattle to the Bay Area, California, in light of the Super Bowl on 8 February. American Airlines has added three flights each from Boston-Logan International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, as well as flights out of the Norman Y Mineta San Jose International Airport on February 9 and 10.

Super Bowl LIX, though, noted some upticks, but didn’t have as high a growth compared to this year. There were reasons too. First, the significant scrunch in New Orleans’ hotel availability, and secondly, a phenomenon that has come to be known as the “Chiefs Fatigue”.

A sizable number of fans were quite disappointed to see the Chiefs make the Super Bowl as opposed to a new and more dominant team. The Chiefs were lacklustre last year, with low-scoring wins taking them to the national championship.

The same reason has been cited as a key factor in the sharp price increase this season. The absence of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs had a miserable season this year, a poor record, and a Patrick Mahomes injury to top it off.

Though prices have risen sharply, they’re still far from the levels of two years ago. When Mahomes’ Kansas City met a rising Brock Purdy and the 49ers in Vegas, the resale highs reached a get-in of almost $9000 before dropping two thousand to reach $7000 on game day.

The Patriots and Seahawks have come a long way since their last matchup a decade ago

The Seattle Seahawks were the reigning champions when they came into Super Bowl XLIX. The New England Patriots were thirsty for a title, having last won a decade ago. After a heated battle between a sturdy offense led by Tom Brady, the Patriots emerged victorious 28-24 in Glendale.

Super Bowl XLIX is considered one of the best Super Bowls in history. The Patriots won their fourth and the Seattle their second Super Bowl loss. While the Patriots will make a few more appearances in the years that came after, the Seahawks haven’t been to a Super Bowl since. On February 8, the Seahawks will return to the prestigious finale of the NFL postseason after eleven years.

The Seahawks were led by Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson, both of whom have changed jerseys. On the other hand, Bill Belichick has been away from the NFL, and Brady has hung up his cleats. The rosters have changed, and the team has changed in more than one way. From a financial standpoint, the two franchises have seen huge differences. In 2015, when they played in Arizona that day, the Patriots were valued at $3.2 billion. The Hawks, $1.33 billion.

Flash forward to today, and the two teams have more or less tripled their valuations. Forbes estimated the Hawks to be around $6.7 billion and the Patriots to be worth $9 billion. The latter is ranked fourth among all franchises in terms of valuation, while the former was ranked 14th.
