An unhappy fan questioned Paul Finebaum about the reason behind ESPN firing Robert Griffin III. Finebaum wanted to say a lot but kept his argument against the company he works for to a minimum.

Colin from Alabama called Finebaum on his show during its latest episode and questioned ESPN’s decision and motives behind the sacking of RG3. In Colin’s view, the former NFL quarterback turned analyst was a ‘gem’ and he enjoyed watching his ‘fresh, bright, and modern touch’ to reporting. He was genuinely sad to see Griffin lose his job.

Finebaum kept his entire dialogue diplomatic and tried his best to steer clear of stirring up trouble. He was aware of RG3’s release but refrained from disclosing the reason.

However, Robert Griffin III’s recent social media post confirmed his release from ESPN. Colin added that this was a big mistake from the network.

He [Robert Griffin III] made it fun, man; he just never knew what he was gonna say and it was always fresh take and funny… He brought joy to it, man. ESPN---hey! Throw the money out there.
Colin ranted while Finebaum kept nodding to his every word

The veteran sportscaster revealed there are a lot of things he has opinions on, but circumstances don’t always permit him to express his true feelings.

I have got strong opinions on a lot of people I work with, and some of them might blow you away. Point being, I have no idea [why ESPN fired RG3]. If I had some insight, I would be happy to share. I know him pretty well, and he was completely different from most of the paid-by-number analysts.

Robert Griffin III promised a special gift for Colin
