Paul George, one of the league’s top stars without a championship, is determined to change his luck by joining the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. Recently, George shared a story about how he ordered “Holy water” in hopes of making his NBA dreams come true.
In an episode of his podcast, the shooting guard revealed this to his father, Paul George Sr. According to him, an infomercial airing on TV back then advertised the product which instantly piqued his interest.
I don't think moms or pops know that story of me ordering the Holy water. I was probably like 15, 16 years old and this particular infomercial was people having the Holy Ghost based off of this... So, I'm watching this and I'm like, alright well it's worth a try. So, I call in... Two weeks later, they sent me this little Holy water sample... My prayer behind it was I just wanna be an NBA player.Paul George said via Podcast P
As stated by Paul George, his dream of becoming a professional basketball player was extremely important to him. The NBA star recounted how he prayed with the holy water and sprinkled it over his body while praying fervently. It’s undeniable now that his teenage dream has eventually come to pass.
George is one of the most established players in the league, since his debut in 2010. He was selected as 10th overall pick by the Indiana Pacers in that year’s NBA Draft. Before that, he stayed true to his goal by playing college basketball with the Fresno State Bulldogs.
Paul George’s father revealed why son left Los Angeles Clippers
Paul George was an important player on the Los Angeles Clippers roster. Therefore, hopes were high when the franchise entered into contract negotiations with the Palmdale native this offseason. However, it didn’t work out, as both parties failed to reach an agreement.
Following that, George stated that he felt disrespected by the team with the offer presented to him. Now, on the same podcast, his father disclosed the truth behind the guard, leaving LA for Philadelphia.
I feel like they stabbed us in the back, because I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team... I think he gave them a 110% and what he was asking; it wasn't a whole lot.Paul George Sr. said
The way his dad sees it, the Clippers betrayed them. The nine-time All-Star had wanted a bigger deal, but the franchise was unwilling to sanction it. In the end, George got the maximum offer from the Philadelphia 76ers. Now, his sights are set on helping the team challenge for another one of his dreams, the NBA title.
