“It would’ve been dope!” Paul George LAMENTS missed opportunity to play alongside Stephen Curry

Paul George missed opportunity to play alongside Stephen Curry at Golden State Warriors, will team up with Joel Embiid at Philadelphia 76ers

Paul George might be on his way to the East Coast. If only the Los Angeles Clippers agreed to a deal, he would have stayed back on the West Coast. The Golden State Warriors were that close to getting him into a sign-and-trade deal which could have paired him with Stephen Curry. The 9-time All-Star reveals it was a missed opportunity.

In an episode of Podcast P with Paul George, the superstar’s co-hosts asked him about the potential Warriors’ move that collapsed at the end. He revealed what went down.

That was a real thing that was close to being done. It was very intriguing, and it was still an opportunity to stay close to home, stay on the West Coast. I think Steph is a unicorn, one of one player, and Joel's a unicorn. But ultimately the deal didn't go through. I think Clippers didn't want a certain trade deal that Warriors were willing to give and yeah, it just didn't happen, but it was close. It would’ve been been dope, man. I was looking forward to it, if it happened.

George, being an LA native, would have preferred that. Not only as a closer-to-home situation but also the opportunity to play alongside Stephen Curry.

That would have been an electric combination. Throw in Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga and the younger players, and a shot at the NBA title would have been legit. There was no other place to go than up, had the deal gone through.

It could have instantly reopened the NBA title window for the dynastical Golden State Warriors. George’s elite perimeter defense, coupled with his array of scoring skills, would have been a hark back to the Kevin Durant days.

Joel Embiid is happy teaming up with Paul George

Paul George may have missed the opportunity to play alongside one of the greatest players in history. However, he will be playing alongside a future Hall of Famer in Joel Embiid. The former MVP though, is ecstatic.

The fit, it looks amazing, it's great. Especially when you got a big, you need to have willing shooters and guys that are not afraid to pull the trigger. PG, great shooter.

Joel Embiid knows the best way to maximize an elite big man such as himself is to surround him with shooters. Paul George is an elite shooter.

But when one adds the ability to attack the paint at will and guard the perimeter, those are skills that any NBA title-aspiring team would want. Add in Embiid’s relentless ability to score from all areas of the court, and now they have become a problem. Throw in Tyrese Maxey‘s ability to score, and the Philadelphia 76ers should not have a problem taking on any opponent.

These three, as well as the other players, will make the Philadelphia 76ers an instant NBA title contender. Joel Embiid and Paul George have a lot of individual accolades. But to win that NBA title, that is the one common goal they will work on achieving together.
