Novak Djokovic had started the year with one goal in mind which was the Paris Olympics. For any athlete, representing their country and winning a medal for their country is the highest form of achievement. However, given Djokovic’s current injury situation, his form is surely questionable.
Recently, the Serbian suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee during his fourth-round match against Francisco Cerundolo and was forced to pull out from the French Open. He immediately underwent surgery in Paris to get into rehabilitation as soon as possible. With the Wimbledon coming in under a month, Djokovic’s participation is questioned. But before that, it is still not known if the Serbian is planning on skipping the Grand Slam to get more rest for the Olympics.
While the Grand Slam is the biggest event for any tennis player, Djokovic considers the Olympics just a stage higher and has always spoken about preparing for the games. However, Paul McNamee strongly believes that the Serbian will not prioritize the games ahead of the Grand Slam.
For those speculating on Djokovic’s priorities, and claiming he puts winning an Olympics gold above an 8th Wimbledon, I beg to differ. In our sport, the Grand Slams matter the most… always have, always will.wrote Paul McNamee on X
Djokovic himself has contradicted the said comments saying that the Paris games were a priority this year. Although he wanted to win a Golden Slam, he could not get any form all year and, on top of that, suffered an injury just as he found some momentum.
Novak Djokovic shared the hilarious updated Lacoste logo after his injury
Serbian ace Novak Djokovic has been a loyal brand ambassador for Lacoste. The brand that has developed a lot in recent times has always had Djokovic’s back. Recently, Djokovic suffered a knee injury and had to undergo surgery.
Lacoste, however, made some hilarious content on this by updating their logo. Instead of the usual green crocodile, the reptile now has a bandaged knee like Djokovic. Even the Serbian laughed about this and posted it on his Instagram story.
Now, he is in the process of recovery and hopes to get back on court as soon as possible. With speculations rising about his possible return at Wimbledon, all eyes will be on the Serbian and how quickly he can make it back.
